Maxpedition "Sitka" in very good condition (almost new, in fact).
Not so much for being a bug out bag, but daily hauling of crap... thermos, water, zip ties, duct tape... you know. Stuff you might need or use every day. :D

Just ordered a Ribz pack from gofastandlight.com for $40
Image
The use of a front pack repositions a portion of your weight forward which reduces your overall shoulder stress and increases comfort, mobility and balance. A front pack in combination with a backpack moves your center of gravity forward and lower and creates the feeling of carrying a lighter overall load.

Though the Ribz front pack was designed with ultralight backpacking intentions, any outdoor activity where easy access of equipment is critical is where it proves beneficial. Ribz front pack can be used alone as a vest but is primarily designed to work with your existing backpack as increased functionality.

Specifications:

* Material Colors: Black or Olive Drab Green (Granite Gray for Ultralight)
* 5 pockets
* Pack - 210 Denier Interwoven reinforced ripstop nylon
* Zippers - Water Resistant / Self Healing
* Back Strap - 50mm adjustable balistic nylon - with D Ring Attachments
* Shoulder Straps - 35mm adjustable balistic nylon - with D Ring Attachments

They were clearing out their 2011 stock, and looking at the site now they say they are out of stock, so looks like I got the last one.

The new 2012 Ribz packs are coming out soon, and later this year Maxpedition is coming out with there version in collaboration with Ribz.
My favorite quotes from Rorschach from the comic Watchmen

"Once a man has seen society's black underbelly, he can never turn his back on it. Never pretend, like you do, that it doesn't exist."

"None of you seem to understand. I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with *ME*!"

Got them at the local GI Surplus. Mess kit $6, cup $6. Not as light as titanium, but not bad. And cheap :)

Mess kit fits inside the cup nicely.

I'm currently trying on the pair of 'Darn Tough' wool socks that I bought the other day.

What's that you say? "Who gives a rip about socks, how could they be special"?

Well let me tell you: These socks have a lifetime warranty. From their page:

"If our socks are not the most comfortable and durable socks you have ever owned, return them for another pair or your money back.

No strings. No conditions. For life.

When you are really serious about something you make it yourself. "

...And the return address is right there with it. Also, these socks are actually made in Vermont. Heck yeah domestic stuff.

I just got two of these and attached them to the sides of my bag:

They're a snug fit for 2 x 32 oz. Nalgenes with the thermal sleeve
(though if you want to squeeze a cup in you'll have to remove the sleeve).

Could also make a nice bag for a mini-kit too. =)

Most of what I buy comes from Amazon or eBay. Recently bought a black Rothco combat shirt with a matching American flag patch, a heavy duty metal cup with handle, an Outdoor Research air compression sack, a Smith & Wesson ExtremeOps folding knife, and some attachments for my MOLLE backpack: radio pouch, extra water container pouch, and a cell phone holder.

Next, I'm going to need Federal Ammunition 9mm self-defense rounds for my FNP-9.
