Postby NoAm » Sun Jan 29, 2012 4:25 pm

Tonight we will have our net meeting on Echolink 7:00 EST. (Look under conferences - U-NODE)
We are still working on the ZS ARC Constitution and continuing to look at any revisions or updates that need to be made.

Here is a link to the ZS ARC constitution viewtopic.php?f=79&t=42280
You may want to have this handy to look at during the meeting.

Please be thinking of topics and ideas to share for net meeting discussions.
Post em up!

Don't forget we are taking next weekend off (Sunday 2/5) for Super Bowl.

Present were:
NoAm
LtCmdLeia
Ke4yqd
NYkh
Tperkins
Sfendt

I was having technical difficulties with my isp so I was dropping packets all over the place.
Thank you for driving the net last night LtCmdLeia.

We tabled the reconstruction of the constitution until our next net meeting.

We had many new members joining us last night so we had a roundtable discussion on several topics:
How long have we been into emergency preparedness?
What preps are we working on and things we would like to learn/improve in 2012?

We also discussed some ideas for future nets and directions for ZS ARC:
ZS ARC members working as liaisons with local ZS Chapters to assist in Amateur Radio training and licensing.
Training current Amateur Radio operators in Emergency Communications.
HF Net
Separating Amateur Radio posts from the general Communication posts. There is so much to learn in both areas and it would be easier to read/learn about these functions independently.

Don’t forget we are taking next Sunday off (2/5) so everyone can enjoy the Super Bowl!
We will back and ready to work hard on Sunday 2/12.

I'm gonna have to try and connect next time. I volunteer with the USFS on Sundays, but I should have access to some echolink able repeaters from where I work. I have only played around with the echolink app a few times, and that was just to use it as a duplex receiver.

NoAm - Sorry you had packet trouble - it sounded so good Thursday - hope it gets sorted out.

Nacho - info that may be helpful... Echolink U-Node is also accessible as IRLP 9669. It was great to finally be able to join the net this time - My home internet drops packets down-link much worse than NoAm's uplink was last net, being satellite based. So - the logical thing to do was to use an Echolink capable repeater - first I had to find one that would connect to a conference bridge (locked out on the 2m repeaters around here). However, when I tried to connect to U-Node (by dtmf the echolink password and the U-Node node number) - the repeater would announce connecting to "U N O D E" - a pause and "An error has occured, connection timed out, link disconnected!". Fortunately NoAm also found the IRLP reflector number, when I used that it connected and worked great. And worked great for the net Sunday.

Best of luck.

Sfendt: Thank you sir! We actually had a technician that FIXED something this time! There was a badly worn connector outside that he replaced and he said we should be good to go. The other gentleman that was here the last 3 times spent more time talking about food storage and couponing. I feel pretty safe that the problem is resolved now. :D

Thanks for the great tips for connecting to Echolink with a rig!
