Wins:
-A group campsite with a large picnic shelter by the river, enough room for four tents and a picnic table under cover.
-Lots of dry firewood, with a local hookup for extra.
-Multiple firestarting methods and techniques (thanks, Pasha!)
-Backup portable propane heaters for the common areas.
-An adorable dog that vigilantly guards the camp against critters in the woods at night.
-No rain till the last day.
-Hot soup
-Mountain House meals
-Hot dogs, and the accompanying meat jokes.
-Costco hash and eggs.
-NW microbrews in big-boy sized bottles.
-Scotch
-Cots
-Sorel winter boots
-Balaclavas
-4x4 trucks
-Towing straps
-5.56, .308, .7.62x39, .22, 9mm
-Steel targets
-Tannerite and stuffed animals to put it in.
-War stories of all kinds

Fails:
-Relying on any sort of weather report.
-Slush
-Making the 3 am choice to urinate and freeze, or stay in the sleeping bag.
-Humping the shooting gear through 2-3 ft of crusty snow without snowshoes.
-Condensation in the tents.
-Not saving the video when the tannerite went boom.
-Not taking more pics.

A few pics and videos to follow.

Video is saved, just REALLY sucky - had to pull it off the card forensically.
3g2 video fails, but that's all my phone has with the 2MP camera.

With as much conversation as we had about recommended media I figured I'd start my list before I forget. So here we go. If I forgot anything let me know and I'll get it up.

A very interesting take on urban survival, with equally interesting tips.

Here are my promised media links. Everything else is a haze, cuz the scotch came out.

Darn good read. Gates of Fire

Pasha, this one is right up your alley. "Bronson"

Transfer. Just buy their album. They're really friggin good. Not Scorpions good, but I like 'em...

DropZedFred, you have some reading to do: Day By Day Armageddon and the sequel.

We were also talking about that old Bear Grylls show "Escape to the Legion". The episodes are split up on YouTube here.

You thought I was making that wooden hand stuff up, didn't you. Nope.

It happens every year, and yes you can come! We'd like to meet you first, of course, but we've got plenty of time for that to happen. Come out to Summergeddon too.
