Bootistan boots by OTB in tan. Ridiculous price, and though I've only worn them around the house so far, they feel serious and fit like a casual shoe. Can never have too many good pairs of boots.

Western Mountaineering Versalite 10 degree sleeping bag. Bought it and naturally it woud not turn cold to try it. Slept in 38 degrees and rainy and almost melted. It finally hit 19 one morning and I was not only just OK, but I was toasty and very warm.
Scored a Jetboil too. Makes a good day hike or overnight kit, but I would want something more substantial for a multi day or true shtf situatuion.

Went to Dollar Tree and picked up some gauze, ace wraps, super glue, and pain killers and made my kids some basic IFAKs for the EDC/GHBs.

I just got all the following in the mail:

-Mechanical fisher yo-yo (skeptical about how well it works, will try this spring)
-2 Platypus soft water bottles (1L and .5 L)
-1 Bucket of Wise Foods dehydrated meals, the 120 serving bucket or whatever

And my new shiniest toy, a Suunto Global compass. Has pretty good reviews as well as the features I want so I figure it should be good for me starting out.

Opinions so far:

The fisher yo-yo has a fairly sensitive trigger if a fish actually bites the bait. My concern is the 60lb nylon line it comes with...I'm not enough of a fisherman to know if that's not going to scare fish away. Thoughts?

The platypus bottles are pretty cool. I'm going to put the .5 liter one in my EDC. The 1 liter has markings to show you how full it is or how much you've consumed in 1/4 liters. The plastic is sturdy with quality seals, and they don't have any leaks. I've been using them both to try them out. Pro tips: DONT lose the caps, ever. And when you drink from them, it's best to orient the bottle in your hand with the sealed edges aligned vertically. This provides the best structure. Otherwise, the soft plastic will just flop around in your hand when you drink.

Wise Foods is sort of a preference thing I guess. Maybe not quite a bug-out item, but I like to keep a few in my pack.

Haven't played with the compass yet, but I like the construction of it despite being plastic. One thing I was very adamant about was hinge construction...several of the cheaper ones I looked at have those solid plastic 'flap' hinges, which as we all know are doomed to break. The Suunto MC2-g has a 2 piece plastic hinge which will last longer assuming I don't step on it...

For anyone who hasn't shopped at Ross, I'd like to echo what awesome values you can find there. I bought a Columbia parka there this year for $70 and it's serving quite faithfully. And it's not just clothes...they get in backpacks and all kinds of stuff.

Date or befriend someone who works there and they can get you another 10% :D

I'm new to ZA, so bear with me as I attempt to post some pictures.

It was time for me to replace some of my old, heavy gear. Afterall, who wants to lug around extra weight when running from walking dead?

So here's my new stuff:
1) Big Agnes Copper Spur UL1 --- ultralight solo tent, but plenty big enough for two people (or in my case me and a Siberian Husky). Wt 2lb 11oz. I stole this thing on sale for $227
2) Big Agnes Amber SL bag --- 30 degree rating, 800 down fill, 1lb 12oz. I was planning to get warmer, but this deal came along too good to pass up. I'll use a liner if the zombie apocalypse comes in winter. Got it for 60% off ($115 shipped!)
3) Big Agnes Dual Insulated pad --- 20x60x2.5, 15 degree rating, 18oz (yeah, stole it too, only $45)
4) Osprey Aura 50 pack --- 3000 cu.in., 3lbs, just big enough for a BOB. Not MOLLE but lightweight and great suspension.
5) Emberlit UL --- titanium wood burner, 5.5oz, $55 for when I've siphoned all the fuel out of abandoned cars for the Whisperlite International.
6) Kel Tec PF9 --- ultra compact 9mm, 14.6oz unloaded w/mag, it was a gift :)
7) Sawyer 2L Water Filter System --- hasn't arrived yet, no pics.

Sleeping bag and pad:

Tent, pack, and stove. There's a lot of room in this tent.
Image

I'm not sure if zombies have good vision, but I thought the green-grey fly would tone down the orange tent. However, if the zombies are packing flashlights, I'm in real trouble. The reflective guylines look radioactive when light hits them.
Image

My husky will be bugging out with me. He's ready to go now.
Image

And if I can't outrun them...

That's my new super lightweight Bug Out Gear. Thanks for letting me share.

Received a Camelbak BFM yesterday, sweet deal from Botach. Wore it around the house a lttle last night, not sure if I like it or not. Wanted to try it without the frame sheet but afraid I'm going to rip the pack trying to get it out it is such a tight fit. The plan is that it is going to be my new GHB/BOB.

Got a good deal on a brand new Henry lever action 22. I didn't have a 22, or a lever action, and now I do.

Sold to me on mark down ($244) because it got delivered with a tiny little ding in the stock :D
