If QD is going to offer the ZS-15 in 80% configuration, I may grab one, being one of those poor souls trapped behind the lines in California. I've always wanted an AR pistol...

I'll have to take it to an AR build party to finish it, but hey, that's what CalGuns is for... :-D

Aimsmall over on Calguns has his CNC machine set up with the jigs to do QD lowers down in San Diego. He does build parties every so often.

From QD's 80% lower product page:

http://quentin-laser.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=27&products_id=159
80% lower receiver. Requires machining out the trigger pocket and drilling the safety selector, trigger & hammer pin holes. Features the same no roll pin design as our complete receivers.

This is not a firearm as defined by the BATFE and does not require an FFL to purchase.

Item is sold in the white as shown.

We will not ship this item outside of the United States for any reason.

Sorry Kiwi's, looks like this one will pass you by.

Bummer. I would look on Gunbroker.com then. They tend to have sellers that are much less worried about this kind of thing. Not that I blame QD.

(edit) Here is one that does ship internationally. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =270658449 I know it isn't part of the group buy, but if you are interested... It looks like it uses the standard jigs to finish it, so you should be able to get those online as well.

I am still gun shy from the AGP lower group buy but fuck it.....

I'M IN

I scrolled through and all of the pics I saw and everything I read convinced me that this will be much better than last time (last time we pretty much dropped $150 on a dremel engraved standard lower, so it can't really be any worse... and the pics Jimmy uploaded don't do justice to how poorly done they were. He painted his and made it look much better).

Here is sample I did today. I set my home location a bit too high up on the receiver so ignore the placement. We'll get them centered up for the production run. This was mainly to show the engraving on the logo. One thing I will suggest, instead of doing the ZS logo on the right side of the mag well. I would leave it open so that the people that wanted the bar code or QR code (or anything else) can have that option. We can do those as a secondary laser engraving on a case by case basis. We would charge an additional fee to do them that way though. Your call, just let us know what you decide to do.

I love you.

How much extra would it be to add the restricted writing (no barcode) to the other side, on top of the $150 for the billet lower already

So? How does the group feel about this? Is the engraving acceptable? What are people's feelings on leaving the off-side blank vs. having the logo on both sides? I am up for whichever way you guys want to go. Let me know, and we will figure out numbers on the order. Do we need to start an official Group Buy thread to keep a running count of who is in?

I think it looks awesome. I'd be fine with leaving the other side blank. Now I just need a firm price point so I can ask the wife :)

As part of the group buy we will do right side mag well engravings for $20.00. This will be for standard images or images already in our system (we have quite a few images). Bar codes, bio-hazard symbols and images like that are standard. Custom logos or complex images that require a lot of time to prepare for laser will be quoted on a case by case basis.

So would the option of having "Making dead things deader since 2003" in standard lettering like in your example fall under the $20 category or is it too custom?

Also my answer is let's do our own individual thing on the other side.

Text falls into the standard category. We have about 200 fonts in our system. Any font you can find in MS word etc. we should have or be able to import.

To clarify, we're looking at this -

    1) ZS on left Magwell
    2) ZSxxxxx S/N
    3) Cal - Multi
    4) ZS-15 for model
    5) A complete case by case basis for what we want on right side magwell. (possible price variation, case by case)
    6) Color choice of Lower (possible price variation, again, case by case)

If this is correct, someone running this come up with a standardized "order" form or figure out how we're ordering this... I'm 100% in on this deal. The only thing I'm wondering about is if I want to do a different color than black and a matching upper...

If you are ordering one in our standard anodizing color of black, od green, or gun metal gray there is no additional charge. Also be advised if you intend to add laser marking to the right side mag well, we are NOT able to laser mark the gun metal gray color. The is not enough dye in the anodizing for the laser to react with.

Hey Monkey Boy, I think it's obvious that bullet pictograms is the winner. Why don't you change the poll to ask "ZS on both sides" "Custom markings on other side".

Hell yeah, that means the original Stencil font can be used. This just keeps getting better.
