Logo on one side - Good.
Other side stuff... hmmm.

I like dropping the "since 2003" if we go with the banner.

I would prefer the QR over the bar code if we go with that. Reason being that the QR code will link back to the site. Meet somebody interesting at the range, they seem legit, let them use their smartphone to get to the site. Seems like a cool bonus.

I too would prefer a cheaper price, but a custom run is a custom run. Can't be too picky about that since we're picky about what's on it. PSA is cheaper, but we are saving money to promote with their logo. Fair trade off, but not what I want in something custom.

Mine will be recieving paint anyway, so the color choice doesn't much affect me.

The asset management tag I was referring to looks like this:

Image

Someone asked what it's use in the PAW would be? None whatsoever... just like having a receiver that even mentions ZS in the first place; it's absolutely useless. It's just a fun extra, kinda like people adding ZS Fleet Numbers to their personal vehicles. It's so this massive, well-funded group, Zombie Squad, can keep track of all of the assets that it issues to its operatives, of course!

But since only a few other people seem interested, I guess it's not likely to happen. If we could get a definitive ruling on what the price would be with stuff on both sides of the magwell, that might help.

A QR code that links to the site might be neat, too...

That's true, but considering I paid $130 for a stag lower, 20 more bucks for something this custom is not hard to justify personally.

1. I don't need a lower, but I kind of want a billet lower.

2. I like the QR code, biohazard, whatever anyone wants one it. If it's all engraveable, let's festoon this bitch with Neat Stuff.

3. I paid like 130 dollars for that forged pile of shit with the weak anodizing that AGP Arms made for us a while ago. Paying 150 for a nice forged one would be fine by me.

Sorry I'm late to the party. I vote for forged, and all the engraving you have all over the everywhere of whatever anyone wants.

The above statement is true. I paid 110.00 for my rockriver lower Stripped, so 150 custom is not bad at all

Tentatively I'm in for one. My vote would be the logo on one side and that restricted for ZS use/barcode on the other.

How about "Safe" and "SHTF" ?

And $150 sounds like a great price. I paid $175 for my DPMS stripped lower. And the fact that it's custom is even better.

I'm SO in.

Where and when did you pay $175 for a stripped DPMS lower? Ack! I paid that much for a Calguns marked lower at the height of the Obama buying spree. That was with the hefty donation to Calguns AND our retarded DROS fee. I picked up 2 of them 6 months later for $75 a pop when things calmed down. I agree that $150 isn't bad for a custom lower. And it is a very good price for a billet lower. I am looking forward to putting this one in my SHTF 5.45x39 set up, as I figure that if I am getting to the point where I am breaking out the 7N6 ammo, a ZS squad lower is entirely appropriate. Besides, that means that the 80% lower of theirs I am milling out next weekend is free to become another AR pistol. Something that is a real pain to get ahold of any other way here in California.

AR pistol sounds bad ass. I want to make my next one with a piston setup.

If the site admins are OK with it, I would be happy to engrave up a receiver with the ZS logo so you guys can see what it would look like if we did it. Just let us know.

We'll need board approval for the trademark issue. I'll forward this on to the rest of board and let you guys know.

I think it goes without saying that those of us interested in the lowers would -love- to see a preview, and it speaks volumes that you're willing to do it before hand. Hopefully that'll get the group's asses in gear and we can just move forward and start giving you money. ;)

I got a hold of a board member just now and asked that they get permission asap. He said they require a board vote for the copyright usage. He's going to get that done.

nevermind, beat me to it.

Jason,

I consulted with a couple other people intent on purchasing the lower, if it's right, and we have a couple examples of "what we don't want" - which is the results of a former run by another company. We don't want a basic single-line engraving approximation of our logo. We want Our Logo. The boldness of the linework and all. I understand the difficulty presented, and the possible additional machine time to accomplish this.

Here is an example of mine, and another member's for example:
ImageImage

We both filled ours in with paint, his white, mine khaki, in the interest of bringing some life/beefiness to the linework, and that was the best we could get.

I know it's hard to get sharp corners when using a single tool for the engraving, as a larger diameter tool would be required for thicker lines. I can only suggest a double-line logo with whatever normal engraving tool you use, where you cut the outline of each letter, and the inside-and-outside of the border. Following that up with a small diameter end mill ran between the two lines should clean out the bulk between them and get a decent start at a bolt engraving.

I know we don't care how it's done, and you're the professional for that, I'm not trying to tell you how to do your job - I am just trying to illustrate with full detail exactly we're looking for regarding the logo.

I completely understand what you're talking about. Here is an example of a one off engraving we did for a customer. The engraving is reversed with the box around the characters being what was machined. Takes a long time to engrave, but you have to give the customer what they want. Replicating your logo exactly will not be an issue.

Just to chime in here, I am an FFL/Graphic artist and I create and sell engraved lowers. I usually buy in batches from Aero Precision and do special runs of AR-15 and AR-10 lowers. The more you buy the cheaper it gets. You can view some of my lowers at these links;

If you guys are interested I would be willing to give a quote if you have a number in mind. I can recreate any logo or create a new logo if needed. You can contact me at;

I just want to interject that if the ZS special serial numbers are still on the table and this actually becomes a reality, I think Monkey Boy and Regular Guy should get numbers 001 and 002 for the work and effort they put into making it happen.

AR pistols are about as close as we can come to SBRs here in California. Even then, we still have to use a bullet button and turn them into 10 round "fixed" magazines. They are not especially useful compared to a rifle or carbine. But they are just SO much fun. The one I used a couple of postal matches back (I posted a picture, I'll see if I can find the link) has a 10.5 inch barrel and a Cavalry Arms compensator on it. You end up with a 5 foot diameter fireball, and it will clear everything out of your sinuses in a couple of shots with the concussion. It may not be all that practical, but I like using it. And it attracts a lot of attention at the range. You light off a couple of rounds, and EVERYBODY stops shooting and comes over to see what you are playing with.

-Mb

Here is the link for the pistol. I have since added a folding rear sight to it. I had the longer Aimpoint sitting around after picking it up on sale a while back. I figured "What the heck, it's an Aimpoint." and slapped it on there.

For safe and fire, how about "Dead" and "Deader"?

Or "Make Deader"?

Idk, trying to be creative. Not really good at it.
