I'll get some pics up of the Jeep sometime, then an image documentary of the build when I get to it.

We got a new BOV for the wife although it's not gonna go too far off road. It's a 2005 Eddie Bauer Expedition sitting on 22's. I will post pics later but I still have my superduty for off road duty.

Is there no way to post photos directly to the site here?

zombiesoldier01,

Great looking truck and family too. Remember, a family that shoots together survives together. :D

I am looking into getting a sort of hobby truck/jeep to have as a fun project BOV.

When I jined the Army, we had M1009 4x4 Trucks that were really awesome.

There seems to be a bunch on the market and they are pretty affordable. Some of the ones that came our of the USAF contracts have almost no miles on them.

I like the idea of having a vehicle that is a common one on the market and that would have plenty of spares on the shelves at the local parts store or in the junck yard.

I also like one that has a little electronic and computer control as possible so shade tree mechanics can fix the.

I know the M1009 has some potential in that area, and there is even front line ambulance models that would be good sleepers too.

I like it, drove them many miles in the early 90s.

Rugged, easy to find parts for, simple to fix and decent fuel consumption.

Any thoughts? Any former 63Bs out there that can tell me more about these than my user experience is willing to allow for?

Here is an older thread about M1009s

http://zombiehunters.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=82615

I disagree that the M1009s can't hang in the woods. They had terrible tires on them really.

I would never buy one at auction, but from a dealer I would.

I think a deuce with a snow blade, anti riot steele mesh window covers (fold up type on hindges) on all glass, and either the shop van bed or protected cargo bed.

I like the idea being able to plow through any thing in front and defend it from riots and the undead.

Right now id be happy with a busted and rusted deuce(I can do any/all work it needs). I have been watching govt. auctions for a while and most start at $150 and stop $1000-1500. Just need one close enough to afford a tow (they are advertised unservicable/repairable so I assume that means doesnt run).

You can find M35s running and "motor pool" ready for about $2,500.00.

Ones that are 100% are in the $5,000.00-$7,500.00 range.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/M35A3-15-600-miles-M105-trailer-included-/320816969073?pt=Military_Vehicles&hash=item4ab22e7571

I would not buy one from the auctions if I were you.

The bike? It is just a still shot from a movie.
I reality though I am saving up for a Ural like this one. The only 2 wheel bike made for the mountains and snow.

Gotcha it's prett cool. I want to get an enclosed cargo trailer soon to build a small little camper to house my kids during the ZAW. I have a bed tent for my truck for the wife and I. So for quick movements, it's a matter of pulling out 3 fiberglass poles and resnapping my tonneau cover. I have timed it, and have it down to 1 minute 43 seconds. So since my whole family minus our youngest is pretty good with shooting and constantly improving they can keep the horde at bay while I close up shop. With my design for the trailer there is no set up/ take down required. Just close the doors and roll!

Looking for a couple of railers myself. One for my BO supplies. We have a place about 2 hrs north to bug out to.
Also looking for small pop up camper that could be pulled behind the Ural when I get it.

Depends on the situation. current plan is my f150 I'm bugging out in. But if the situation needed it, I would take this for speed.
