December Meet and Greet

Postby Zdigger » Wed Dec 07, 2011 8:44 pm

Ok, we are going to go for our first new Meet and Greet so we can get a running list of who is who and who is where and who has what to contribute and who likes to assist with what.

December 11th Sunday 1300 at Quickshots Inc (Indoor Range)

Check out our website at QuickShotShootingRange.com!
Address: 1199 Zonolite Rd., Atlanta, GA 30306 · Get directions
Phone: 404-963-1962
Website: http://www.quickshotshootingrange.com
Status: Open until 21:00
Hours

Fri: 11:00 - 22:00
Sat: 09:00 - 22:00
Sun: 10:00 - 18:00

Please RSVP here or PM:

What to expect: Learn who is who, find out who is near you so you can start bonding and working as a team.

What we expect: Enthusiasm, Dedication, will to Hunt Zombies :)

Be ready to tell just a small bit about yourself and what you as a person (or group if you have formed one already) what you have to offer the rest. Also be ready to add idea's for future meetings, (we will be at an indoor gun range so shooting is always a big attractor); but who has CDC level NBC training who is willing to impart that information and skills to the rest of us, camping/ bug-out-bag weekends, small team tactic weekends, air-soft/ paintball engagements. This Chapter is for all of us.

Also twice a year we are required to conduct a non-profit event, this is what was completed as of recent (since the new Season of the Walking Dead Started until the mid-season ender - we collected over @ 500lbs of canned foods for the Atlanta Community Food Bank in conjunction with Diesel Fuel Station (Bar and Restaurant) also $120 which puts $ 7.04 worth of food per family so it basically turned into $844.80 worth of food. We also had a Zombie Walk + had some of the Zombie Cast Extra's come and do a Q & A with people. The Owner had sponsors so when people brought in canned food they got extra tickets for the raffle prizes, it was a great time for all. I know a lot of members don't get into the dress as a zombie/ or zombie hunter for fun but can still bring lots of training.

Bring others who are interested, we also plan on doing a quarterly firearm completion.

Thanks Digger / Annie / and Stan

Wow, four days notice?

I'll be coming back from a trip to North Georgia, not sure if I can get back in time for this (riding with a friend).

I'll sure try to make it.

I won't be there, but I won't be in country either, so...

I'm not expecting to have a lot of free time on this R&R (limited time with the family and all), but next R&R should be a little more lax. Next summer will be a definite go for me.

Speaking of next R&R, I will be doing the Spartan Race at that time. It's 10 March 2012 if any of you want to join in. If we can get at least 4, we can have a team going. We need at least 4, no max. I haven't done a Spartan Race before, but it looks fun.

I was blown away with the skills and knowledge this group of people had to offer, we have someone who has, we have a member who made his own forge and an axe and blade. An NBC expert, another getting ready to go for HAM qualifications so he can teach us. This is just a few of our collection of members, some like to do the Zombie Walks/ Public events, some don't; we cater to all of these, you don't have to help with the food drives or the zombie walks to be in zombie squad, just have the willingness to bring some of your knowledge to the table so others may learn from it.

As for our Zombie Walking Crew, we have a Santa Zombie Walk on the 17th of Dec at Diesel. I will be posting more on Mon/ Tues about all the details. Also for those who shot with us today, great shooting, very impressive, hone your marksman skills for our Three Gun Zombie Shoot with awards for Pistol/ Rifle/ Shotgun and an overall Top winner (4 prizes overall, custom plaques, and being known as the top gun - in that firearm type for a 6 month time, until we do the next one (this will be a bi-annual event).

We are open to all suggestions and invitations, please don't be shy.

Will post overall thank you's later on.

Keeping Atlanta/ Georgia Zombie Free - one, two, and groups at a time.

Thank you all,

Digger (Annie Tee was ill today but missed you all)

I'm so pissed I missed this. I got dragged into a problem with work at the last minute (yes on A Sunday  - the price you pay when you freelance, I guess).

Anyway. I hope I can make it to the next meeting (and all future ones, as well).

Can you tell me more about the zombie walk thing?

Also, what's the weather like right now? If it's tolerable, I may be able to make it a family thing. I know my girls would have fun with it.

If the weather isn't midget compatible, I'll have to pass, but...

Not yet. That's why I'm asking about the weather. Depending on the weather and if I'm not still a useless mass of wasting meat, I may be able to get the kids out there.

I'm sorry I missed this too. Spent most of Sunday doing Christmas shopping and chopping firewood. I will see if I can make it to the next one.

Crap! I'm so pissed I missed this. Have been hoping we would do a get together, and in the Atlanta area. I was just too busy with the holidays to even check :(

When is the next meetup? Could someone post a synopsis of what was discussed? Was it just a meet and greet or were any plans made (formally or casually)? Since this meeting was in Atlanta, will the other ones be, too? Or was this a rare ITP meetup?

I think I answered some of that in your other thread.

Davo wrote:We talked about having monthly meetings, with one person giving an intro to a particular topic, followed by some Q&A. Some topics: Bug-Out-Bags, First Aid, Firearms, CERT, planning evacuation routes from Atlanta, some sort of support network in case of an interruption of services, HAM Radio... stuff like that.

Yup, this post was made before the other one and I just wanted to keep them separate, hoping that diversifying would lead to a more likely response from someone. Just excited that there's activity!
