Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Some thoughts regarding why I am excited about Skyrim .
My favorite thing about Oblivion and Morrowind was my ability to simply disregard the main quest and wander around wreckin' shit . This allows me to create a charcter that in my mind in from the Robert E. Howard , or Fritz Leiber or even classic D&D tradition of The Adventurer rather than The Hero .
In games like Dragon Age or Mass Effect , you are forced by the storyline to be some sort of hero , sure I can make choices in the world , but I never really feel like I can truly control all of my character's actions .
In the ES games I have the ability to create a sort of character that I really like , a rogue that is out to get paid . A man who knows that there is money to be made because he is willing to go into scary dungeons full of baddies and pick up some loot . A guy who is not above a little mercenary work or even theft and murder if there is coin involved .

I dunked a bitch's head in a bucket of ice water one time when she was OD-ing on Xanax. Worked great, but there was a LOT of paperwork afterward.

Just got the txt from Gamestop that my pre-order has arrived. I'll be getting there by at least 2230 because the pre-order map is 1st come 1st serve. Talk about some bullshit, considering my copy has been paid for since July.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I don't want min. spec detail, I want all of it. Since the Xbox copies are coded specifically for Xbox hardware, it will look better on console than min. spec PCs.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Uhh I sorta doubt min spec PC is going to look worse then 360, look how old the hardware specs are on the 360, those components ain't aging real well.
But if you already paid for it, I guess it should work.

Whoa, I forgot that overwhelming feeling that you get when first starting to play a new Elder Scrolls game. I have it but I really need to sleep now. (3AM over here.)
It's interesting and there's... choices!
Got 3 days of gaming ahead, I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Oh, and an interesting note: looks prettier than Oblivion but runs far smoother. High Quality for me without a hitch!

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Some hints for the PC gamers
Hold E to move corpses around
Caps lock is the Always run toggle button (think ES IV was same)
When your making your character it makes it look like you have to change your name then, you can't. Get your toon looking how you want then accept, a new box will pop up for you to put your name in. I wasted 15min trying to figure out what was wrong.
Don't mess with the chickens
Don't mess with the Mammoths
Dragons die really easy...

Are the PC graphics any better than the Xbox? I watched some Xbox gameplay on YT and wasn't completely sold, the textures looked a little wonky and the toon's left hand when playing in FP mode was all bendy in weird places.

I got to play it on my friend PC with the graphics maxed and it was so beautiful i almost cried. i did not notice many glitches, other than the fact that sometimes butterflies (which you can catch!) will fly through rocks. i did only get to play for about an hour, so YMMV.
