Only if you are using sub sonic ammo and the only thing that makes an ar better than a 22lr is velocity.
Slow moving 22 caliber bullets are of limited use.

All spelling and grammar errors the fault of my phone.
Equality can only exist between equals.
Civilization implies division of labor, division of labor implies subordination and subordination implies injustice and inequality.

And spitzer bullets. And higher energy due to higher mass/velocity.

Even if going <1100 ft/s, I'm going to go out on a limb here and bet that a subsonic .223 bullet is going to have more than ~160 ft-lbs at the muzzle, and probably have better terminal ballistics.

Sorry guy, suppression works with out subsonic. Remarkably well.
Yes, even at subsonic speeds, a 223 is still very good.

Suppression doesn't mean "spt-spt" suppression mean "THWACK-THWACK" instead of "KA-RACK KA-RACK." The difference between a standard M16 firing Mk 318 SOST and a Mk12 DMR (suppressed) firing Mk318 SOST is remarkable. Another bonus: suppressed 5.56 doesn't cause hearing loss when you don't have time to don earpro. Twelve gauge hurts like the Dickens.

Plus each model runs a little different, and you can run them wet, and altitude makes a dif and temp, etc etc etc.

I ran 55gr .223 thru a short model a few years back on a Colt M-4 and it was about like .22lr. No hearing protection at all.

I've never had a 12ga run that quiet.

Shotgun or AR, Which Would You Choose?

Postby DeadWhiteGoose » Mon Sep 10, 2012 3:33 am

Does it count if my shotgun counts as a tertiary gun? My primary is my Remington 700 in 30-06, then my secondary a S&W 686+ Pro in .357 while my Mossberg 500 sits nicely in my scabbard that conveniently through MOLLE technology clips to my back pack. It's kind of my "things are too close or in my way" kind of back up blaster. Hence the 18.5" bbl, pistol grip and door breacher. And heck, I threw a laser on it just for kicks.
