I'm having a hard time reading the book. Not that I don't understand the subject matter, it's the fact that I do.
There are just too many things right in the beginning that are too convenient, and the characters are portrayed in a way that keeps shifting back and forth. I don't know, it's hard to explain. It's little things that keep turning me off. So far there have been a lot of technical falsities. IE. running 2 A/Cs and a deep freezer off of a portable generator, swapping the intake system on an engine in 2.5hrs by a semi-inexperienced character (his own statement), the statement by that same character on what an engine needs to run.
It's almost like the wasn't a technical editor that caught some of these things.
Also, I don't care to read every little bit of commentary or quip or jive that is said. I'm betting the book would be 1/2 to 3/4 the size if it wasn't for these.
I'm really hoping this book gets better, and the writing style changes a bit. Otherwise, I'm going to give it away to anyone that will have it.
Maybe this is a good read for a beginner, but IMO it's not living up to the hype it generated.
Mark me not impressed... yet.
