September Chapter Meeting

WHAT: September Chapter Meeting for ZSC:005.

WHEN: September 11, 2011 11:00 am PST.

WHERE: Snoqualmie National Forest along NF-55 (Look for ZS stickers and Flags on the day to mark the location. Also tune FRS radios to the Chapter Radio Channel for final directions when you are in the area.)

WHY: Chapter meet and greet for new members. Tribal knowledge share. Remembrance of our fellow Americans who went before us on one of the most lamented days in our history as a nation.

HOW: Any darn way you can!!!

Hello Fellow ZSC:005 members,

The next chapter meeting will be held at the Snoqualmie National Forest area. We will be selecting a suitable pullout location just off of NF-55 to conduct the meeting. We will follow the standard chapter-meeting format and include a moment to remember those that lost their lives and loved ones in the attacks on the four planes used to hit the World Trade Center Buildings, the Pentagon and the failed attempt ending in the field in Shanksville, PA.

After the meeting anyone interested can relocate to the Snoqualmie Pit to participate in some safe range time and target shooting. All applicable laws and safety rules will be followed or you will be asked to leave. I do not expect anything but the most upstanding behavior from all of you as we have had in the past.

Below is the detailed directions on reaching the pit are below. The meeting location (to be selected on the day of the meeting) will be “HIGHLY” visible if you are familiar with the ZS corporate logo and will be along the route of travel to the pit.

"Snoqualmie Pit"
- Shooting pit in Snoqualmie pass off I-90
- AKA: "Pathfinders Pit"
- Location: N47.366531, W121.509132 (Needs to be verified)
- Directions: I-90 East to exit 47, make a right over the bridge, make a right to NF-55, take it until you reach NF-5510 and go left. Go around 5 miles and find the Shooting Pit on left hand side.

I am guessing the FRS channel is 5? If not what is it? Or is that some ubber secret hand shake kind of thing?

Are all legal firearms acceptable to bring or is there some kind of chapter restrictions?
Is it expected for everyone to bring their own targets and stands?
Any suggestions on other items/gear to bring?

Channel 5 is correct with a squelch code of.....5!!!!

Are all legal firearms acceptable to bring or is there some kind of chapter restrictions?
Anything legal is OK. However, use some common sense. this is a short yardage range with a gravel/hillside backdrop. Maybe not a good ideer to bring out the Barrett M82A1!!! No matter how much I want you to!!!!

Is it expected for everyone to bring their own targets and stands?
There will be a few there. But not many. So if you have any stands that can handle the abuse bring them. Definitely bring your own targets.

Any suggestions on other items/gear to bring?
We will be at altitude so a light jacket can never hurt. Also there is always a chance of rain. Being the late summer bugs may be a factor so bug spray will make friends with all those that do not bring it. And as always, hydrate or die. (Shameless plug for Hydrastorm)

PLEASE know your ammo and know your target.
M855/SS109/Steel core and steel targets is a no-no.
It causes major damage, this is a repeat issue.

Also, MOST commercial steel targets are .22 rimfire only.

If it is NOT your target (you did not bring it or set it up), please ask if you can shoot it.
