EDIT: this was the 2011 Fall thread. That having fallen through, this is now the preliminary 2012 Spring/early Summer thread. See page 2 for details.

I am almost certainly not able to attend, no matter what the class. Money is tight and my wife might be laid off soon, so I can't justify the expense. Bummer.

This might be hard to swing for me, but here's a thought about the class content...

Since this is an alumi class, and all in attendance have the basics down, could we have the class formed up so you can basically run any weapons you want? By that I mean the guys who want more carbine training can bring their rifle and pistols, guys who want to focus on pistol can bring only them, and maybe a guy who wants to bring a shotgun can get some time in on that. It would take some flexibility on the part of the instructors, and might even mean that we periodically break into smaller groups for one on one drill time, but Doc and Dave are good enough that I'm sure they could get it done and keep things flowing.

For example, we're drilling tactical reloads. Everybody is on line doing the drills, regardless of whether they're using pistols, carbines, or shotguns. Then, for the live fire reload drills, we either keep things relatively close (so everybody can do the drill at once) or we let the carbine/shotgun guys go, then they take a quick break so the pistol guys can go. You could basically run all the drills we do like that, even running all the platforms together for the live fire team portions.

Too complicated?

I really like Dannus' idea, but it's too early to say if I can make it or not. Finances dictate, ATM...

Did a September class ever get put together? NXP said he was doing that one, but I've heard nothing about it.

My concern being that there may be more interest than strictly alumni, as NXP really wanted some schooling.

I really want to come, too, as I haven't trained since the weekend after the May class

Financial aide is going to be the deciding factor, and it doesn't look promising right now...

I need tons of work on pistol and carbine, but more pistol, really...

For those of us who can't make this Fall (myself included, probably) we could start looking at May.

I would be down for an Alumni class. You tell me when and I will be there. If we cant pull it off this fall, then next spring is good.

Dannus - that would be a question for Dave/Don. I don't know if it is an option or not. In any event, are you in? And if you still talk to him, do you think Arch would be in?

Honestly, probably not for a fall class, or at least not enough to make any date suggestions. Once dates get narrowed down I might be able to look a bit more closely. Lots of irons in the fire at Fort Maximus, our Fall is filling up pretty quickly, and our spare cash is rapidly getting spoken for!

I still talk with Arch pretty regularly. He's plugging along through some health issues currently, and probably would also be out for a fall class. Spring might be more doable for him, but I'll let him know about the possibility of a class if one forms up.

So, to answer your question, don't count on either of us, then if we can show up for any planned classes all the happier we'll be.

I DO really want to attend anything from the gang at MilCopp, but an Oct/November date is way past what I had allowed for a timeline of available dates. :( I have to submit time in advance, like wayyyyyy in advance.

That said, I'm still 100% down for attending a May class now if we have a a general commitment that there will be a May course - dates don't really matter so long as it will be sometime in the general vicinity of May.

The suck is strong here.

Exactly the same here, though If I were going, I feel like I'd be about "Tactical Carbine 1.3 - 1.5" or so.....at best.

Like NXP, hopefully I can do something in May.

Can someone post a link again to the Carbine gear requirement? I still need a chest rig I know. No money for optic right now. But I need training.

Yeah, I can't find that on MilCopp's site. Need to forward it to my family because we're stewing up renewed interest in doing MilCopp, but it'll take some money, gear, setup, and over 12,000 rounds of rifle ammo if all 7 of us can go.

As someone who keeps trying to make these and never can, I will only add that I would prefer the basic class first versus an alumni class. I do recall someone talking about trying to setup a "May is for newbs, Oct is for experienced" type of schedule so that those who are wanting to get in on the class from a beginner stand point knows which date to shoot for and those who want more out of the class can do both or aim for the other class where the "alumni" will be.

I originally wanted to get in on an Oct class if possible, but work right now is crazy (same shit that helped make the Western States Class fall through). That all said, I might be able to swing Oct, but May can be saved up for and planned out much easier.

That's the problem. The 7 of us would need at the very least 3,000 dollars worth of ammo alone for both rifle classes. Not considering that only two of us have almost all the gear we'd need, but everyone else would have to purchase things like slings, kneepads, or even a complete rifle.

It's daunting when I add it up, but I know at least 3 of us that would want to go. Maybe just me and my dad could go up in May.
