Sig 1911-22, worked, broke, now fixed. ongoing review

Hey guys, I wanted to know what the word is on the Sig 1911-22, I know It's just about the exact same gun as the CSC ATI import 1911-22 and I've heard some good and bad about the gun, more bad than good it seems. it seems that Sig just slapped their name on it. I've heard some reports of parts wearing out or breaking, but it may have just been because those were early model parts and were still trying to get it right. I've also read that the slides on the CSC's were not magnetic, possibly not steel? But the Sig I've felt did hold a magnet as some type of steel. Also just how is Sigs Customer Service and warranty? I know that ATI is pretty good and do you right if your CSC starts to break down. So, any experience? Also can we restrain from using the term "Pot Metal" I feel its a derogatory term, but that's just me, anyways.

I've actually got a pair of these at the house, an older black one and another newer model in OD. They're a little over a pound lighter than my Springfield Loaded 1911. The finish on the relatively new OD is already starting to wear off in some spots, which is a non-issue, I really only have the pistol to train on the cheap. Both of them feed pretty reliably on Federal semi-auto match and Winchester M-22 until they get dirty (100's of rounds w/o any sort of cleaning), then you might see 1 or 2 stovepipes per mag. The mags I do like, they added weight to them so they feel like real .45 mags.

All in all, I can't complain. Can get some pics when I get home, if that's what you're into

Sure, I'd love to see some p0rn of them Also what kind of accuracy are you getting out of them? And on another side note, I may have picked one up already so far I'm impressed with it, at the moment I've put around 200 rounds through it. The coating I agree is kinda cheap but I didn't get it as a looker, but as a shooter. However all I've done is shoot at my spinner target at 15 yards so I'm not sure what it groups yet.

Well, after shooting around 200-300 hundreds rounds my Sig 1911-22 the recoil spring guide snapped! It completely snapped where it meets the rod to the main body. I have to call Sig tomorrow and nag at them to send me out replacement parts. Pics coming

Just called Sig, their Customer Service was nice, polite and overall good. Just simply told them what the problem was and he just asked my name and address and said he'd send the part out right away. I did ask if this was happening often and he mentioned that he's had to send out quite a few of them already. So I'll report back after I receive it. ATI had this very same problem with their early models and replaced it with a different sold model so I'm hopping Sig has done the same and there won't be anymore issues.

Ordered a extra, better Guide rod today from http://www.cwaccessories.com/
For only $16 bucks shipped you get a lathed SS and aluminum rod. So really looking forward to that. Hopefully the gun will be running by mid next week and I can put another 500 rounds through it and then maybe post a review.

Well got the new recoil guide rod from CWaccessories and it looks pretty good and solid.







Installed it right into the pistol.



Only problem was because the rod is oversized the old plastic washers wouldn't fit, just they do include a small metal one. Shot about 50 rounds through it and kept running into a problem, the barrel bushing would keep rotating and beat up the end cap for the rod.



So what I did was bore out the plastic washers to increase tension.



Now she's running flawless and hopefully she'll keep running. I must note that the finish sucks, as you can see in photos the finish looks like the rounds has 1000's of rounds through it, not only 400. The Sig will probably get AlumaHydeII coated in park gray, just the slide to start with. Will keep updating as more rounds go though and problems present.

Gun seems to running decent lately. I've been using Remington Golden bullets as they are my favorite and have had good results. I tried Winchester hollow points, the stuff that comes in a box of 333 and had terrible results, rounds were going stray it seems and had a terrible time trying to hit my spinner plate as well as a few failures to lock open the slide or just to re chamber a new round after firing. I have had yet to encounter any of those errors with the Gold Rems. More testing to come with Federal as well as CCI and I will be going to my local range soon for a accuracy test with different brands of ammo as well as a Bullnose Ruger Mark II for comparison. Gun has a total round count of about 500

My God, the Sig replacement part came today, way too fucking slow. Service time; D But they did send two new slightly resigned guide rods with springs. I'm sure they'll work but now I don't need them. Why put a inferior part in the gun when you already have a better quality part. Just a little update.

Guns had another 300 put through it now. It's had a few malfunctions, a hand full of times the gun would fire, cycle, but not strip and load a new round into the chamber, not sure if its a ammo, mag or gun problem. A few stove pipes but those hardly happen actually. The gun is still quite a blast and a mag dump is fast and fun with it. Putting out decent groups. Will get formal patterning sometime.

I've put another 1000+ through the gun easy now. Now it runs 98% of the time flawlessly. The only problems I run into now which is hardly ever is not chambering a round or the random stove pipe. The gun does react differently to certain ammo, Remington Gold Jackets hit to the left all the time where Winchester hits low but dead on. Still haven't done a formal accuracy test. So far it's my favorite .22 handgun.
