Compendium One gives you volumes 1-8, I believe. So you're shopping for Vol. 9 and up after that.

EDIT: But you'll spend as much on Volumes 9 and 10 as you did on all of Compendium One.

That is correct. TWD Wiki has all the TPB volumes listed and the issues covered: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead
Compendium is issues 1-48 and you can keep it going with volume 9 of the TPB.

Forgot to mention last month that Image has released a monthly "floppy" called The Walking Dead Survivor's Guide. Looks like it will be about 4-5 volumes. Go to your local FLCS and ask for it. #2 just came out last week and has all characters listed C-G. I am a series-long fan and I have found the guide quite useful.

Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the cast of The Walking Dead. The Survivor’s Guide is a handy checklist of all the characters who have appeared in the series thus far, alive or dead. This series is a can’t-miss supplement to the hit comic book series that is now a hit TV series on AMC!

I think the best part of the latest issue is the grief people were giving to Kirkman about the end of #83 in the letters section.

A whole lotta "How could you? I'm never reading another issue of TWD !!!"

And Kirkman pretty much responding "You'll be back."

the letters at the end of the most current issue were hilarious as well. i think someone said something like "you just lost a reader. too much. too far."

if there's anything the walking dead has taught us, is that no one character is safe from death.

Sometimes things just market themselves

"You've gone too far Kirkman!!"

For those of you reading this and but are not at that part of the No Way Out storyline (issue 83) ... what exactly did the writer of the comic put in his comic that prompted such a reaction? Hmmmnnnn... I'll edit my spoiler so you should read the comic to find out

I still get a knot in my stomach just thinking about that.

I read somewhere that Kirkman said that Rick wouldn't survive past issue #100..... That would suck balls. :gonk:

Yeah... I buy them every single time they come out. Pure shit other than the psuedo porn you get. I even got suckered into an alternate cover by accident thinking it was a new one. Luckily I work at the store so I just put it back on the shelf in good condition and got something else.

I wouldn't put it past him... and I think it will be OK too. I've started getting into Kirkman as a writer and delved into Invincible, and I honestly think the guy is a frikkin genius. He is the master of taking a trope and turning it into something shocking and new.

I ordered mine from here:

http://skyboundent.com/shop/thewalkingdead.html

$104.00 includes the Compendium One (vol. 1-8) plus vols. 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13.

I don't know if they're cheaper elsewhere.

Pretty pricey - Rick O' gave you a good answer though.

YOu could probably try to find used copies of the TPBs or Compendium on Amazon but that is not a sure thing.

i got tricked into reading a copy of "zombies of foreign wars."

if you thought the night of the living dead comics were shitty, good lord. no words. i want those 10 minutes of my life back.

kirkman is a certified genius. i think some comic readers assume some of the plot twists are for shock value, and some of them are, but he does a great job of fleshing out characters. he explores id ego and super ego in great detail once society has crumbled. love it.

So do you guys also read Zombie books or just into the comic side?

My friend is obsessed with the comics but for whatever reason just could not care less about books.

i read world war z. pretty awesome stuff.

these days, the internet is giving most users adhd. even my most academically inclined friends don't read for shit, other than maxim, men's fitness, and stuff like that.

or maybe i just have friends that are just less dumb than i am.

Not so much. For the most part I am technically not a fan of zombie media. I like about 3 zombie movies total, 2 zombie comics and about 4 zombie books. I've been through quite a few though. Most zombie stuff is pure shit IMO. Too many people making zombie stories with the same old tropes.

That's why I like TWD and Kirkman in general though. He takes tohse tropes and twists them into something that is new yet familiar, and in creative but logical ways. That's when he does use tropes though.

I also read Invincible by Kirkman and he is twisting superhero tropes to new heights. I love that comic too.

Zombies of Foreign Wars is kind of lame. Again, I work in a comic shop so I read that for free one afternoon... well, I quit about half way through.

i want those 20 minutes of my life back dude. technically i was being productive since i was dropping a deuce at the time, but i hated that damn comic.

i agree with you for the most part, most people throw blood on an ashy character with the occasional fright and shove it out into the market calling it the next great zombie movie. same goes for comics. convoluted storylines, characters with no depth, and other factors have annoyed me enough to pretty much stick with the walking dead, and less than 5 zombie films. it's hard enough sifting through the chaff to find quality stuff about the genre in general, i might just give up altogether.

video games are a different story though. the zombie mode in call of duty and zombie apocalypse are fun as all hell.

on a side note, the pacific northwest scares me. i visited seattle and got absolutely shitfaced off of a ton of IPA. we walk out of a bar close to 9 and the sun is just BARELY setting

i thought the damn rapture was upon us till my bud told me the suns set late as hell the further up north you go.
