This unfortunate specimen was made by Auto-Ordnance before the 1999 Kahr takeover, as evidenced by the damning "West Hurley" manufacture location:

Now, I know I like to talk smack about these obsolete pieces of shit, and specifically their inability to properly digest modern ammunition, but I am here to tell you that I have anthropological evidence as scribed by a hobo with a goddamned rock that this thing feeds hollowpoints OK: Either that, or that a hobo really likes Harry Potter and felt the need to tell his magazine, which is more likely than a 1911 that feeds hollowpoints.

The first indication that this turd needs a lot of TLC is the sights:

From what I can tell, the original owner melted down both iron sights in order to make one comically large rear one.
My next indication that someone has fucked this thing up is this:

Apparently, not content with using a full-length guide rod to put tension on the pivot link like everyone else who gives a shit about that sort of thing, this asshole decided to DRILL AND TAP THE FUCKING FRAME, and put a set screw in it, to put pressure against the link.
So, what crown jewel of the pivot link world is worth drilling into your goddamned frame to secure?

That one, apparently.
The carnage doesnt stop there though, check out what a retard with a Dremel can do to a feed ramp:

And finally, to fill out this shit sandwich, lets take a look at the frame, and the peening that has occurred from this raggedy-ass 1911 chattering on the rails:

AWESOME!
So, anyway, thats my stupid cheap 1911 project. The ZS member I bought it from says it functions alright, but currently fails to extract every few rounds. I've got a box of snap-caps for it, and I'm going to start ordering parts, and removing this breathtakingly stupid set screw.
Expect much more shit-talking from me about 1911's in the near future as I make this thing work properly again.
Love,
Crypto
P.S. I didnt buy this thing because I've had a change of heart about the 1911 platform. I still think its an obsolete piece of shit best left in a museum. It was either this or a Cowboy-LARPing single action revolver. I bought it to confirm my hatred of the platform, the 1911 overclocking community, and Jeff Cooper. This pistol is everything thats wrong with all of them.
