Yep. Thought that was pretty cool. Watching the show really makes you understand how valuble hunting knowledge is and how mixing todays tech with a old primitive knowledge can take you a long ways.

By the way... I just noticed Dave's book came out recently. Has anyone read it yet? It is called "Survivability For The Common Man" I'm looking for a review. I want to read it and I'm sure I will.... There are just soooo many survival books I am juggling now.

Re Dave's new boo:

This is the only "decent" review (not that the book is but the review) I have found so far http://suburbansurvivalblog.com/i-just- ... common-man

I have ordered the book myself and will give it a read but I'm really busy right now so will probably not be able to review it here in at least a month. :(

A couple things... I am the guy that wrote the review of Dave's book, and the author of the blog. I am horrible at reviewing things, so if it is not very good, sorry.

As for the knife, it is from Blind Horse Knives: http://www.blindhorseknives.com/pathfinder.htm It is a bit expensive, but I think I am going to pick one up when I get a few more dollars in the bank.

DISCOVERY TO BRING BACK HIT SURVIVAL SHOWS FOR SECOND SEASON:

DUAL SURVIVAL and MAN, WOMAN, WILD to go Back into Production for 2011 Premieres

Series Propelled Discovery to its Best August Friday Delivery Ever

(Silver Spring, Md.) – Discovery Channel has signed deals to bring back two hit survival shows for second seasons. DUAL SURVIVAL, produced by Original Media, and MAN, WOMAN, WILD, produced by Renegade 83, will go back into production this fall to produce all-new episodes to premiere on the network early next year.

Premieres of MAN, WOMAN, WILD (9pm) and DUAL SURVIVAL (10pm) propelled Discovery Channel to its best August Friday delivery ever in all key demos during prime (HH, P2+, P/M/W25-54, P/M/W18-49, P/M/W18-34). Discovery was the #1 ad-supported cable network on Friday nights among M18-49/M18-34 (#2 among M25-54) in August.

During its first season, premiere telecasts of DUAL SURVIVAL delivered an average of 1.7 million people (P2+) in August. And during the first season of MAN, WOMAN, WILD, premiere telecasts delivered an average of 1.2 million people (P2+) in August. To date, more than 31.6 million people P2+ have watched DUAL and more than 26.4 million people P2+ have watched MAN, WOMAN, WILD in both premieres and re-airs (source: Nielsen, nhi. 6min. p2+).

About DUAL SURVIVAL:

Experts agree there are some very basic – and universal – rules for surviving in the wild. Find shelter, find water, find food, find help. Beyond that, there’s not much they agree on. Meet military-trained Dave Canterbury and naturalist Cody Lundin – trained survival experts featured in Discovery Channel’s DUAL SURVIVAL. Together, Canterbury and Lundin take on some of the planet’s most unforgiving terrain to demonstrate – in their own way – how the right skills and some creative thinking can keep you alive.

About MAN, WOMAN, WILD:

Surviving the wild can be hard enough but add to the mix a husband and wife who don’t always see eye to eye and you have MAN, WOMAN, WILD. Mykel Hawke is a former Special Forces survival expert. His wife Ruth is a television journalist. Together, they take on some of the most forbidding and remote locations around the world. Dropped into each spot, they must survive as a team for four days and nights, with only a knife and the clothes on their backs. For Mykel, survival comes naturally — years of military training as a Green Beret have taught him to survive in any condition, but for Ruth every thing in the wild is still very new to her. From building shelter to hunting for food to finding a route to rescue Mykel teaches Ruth the necessary skills needed to survive.

Alright!. But I kinda wish Dave would make more videos on his channel. I know, he's busy and that's why he got other guys to take the place for now but come on. Don't forget about the people who made you popular.

DC is contractually prohibited from doing other videos. He's getting around it by having Iris do them., I believe.

I am liking the dual survivor show, but they do some of the same BS that all the other shows do. The last one I saw, they were in the rain forests of Washington State... AKA my stomping grounds  To reach that beach, they had to have walked right over or under the "Scenic Highway 101 Loop" While still only a two lane road in most parts, it is the ONLY road that leads back to civilization so it is heavily traveled.

Not to mention, Cody rocks a mora.

I think they both have Moras for neck knives, at least they did.

Anyone catch the new episode? I think the producers finally decided to stop building ridiculous false tension between Dave and Cody, and it's a much easier watch without cut outs of them whining about each other.

Dave is a fricken trooper for showing us how to cauterize a wound like that. And the shelter Cody put together was amazing.

I saw it, and enjoyed it once again. I give Dave tons of credit for the cauterized wound, God that must have hurt. I think this season will be even better than last years.

I enjoyed the show. I like that they have a more positive interaction wasn't a fan of the griping between them. Great first show for this season.

Kickoff episode was a tornado of badassery. Glad the boys are back for a Season 2.

You know we have an "in" w/ Dave, right? His daughter has posted in this very thread... last year anyway. I PM'd her once or twice.

And I asked Cody on his website what his thoughts were on "strength training, and 'supplement' use". He responded (*eeee squeals like a little girl*) that he strength trains a lot, though he didn't cop to any "supplement" usage... *cough* HGH! *cough*
That was the whole reason I even asked! You can tell.

Anyway, if you have questions for those guys, you can kind of get answers. That's pretty cool.

I say it over and over again, but I took a class w/ Cody in Prescott when I was at the J.C. there. Totally down to earth dude, and a wealth of knowledge. He lives this stuff.
I took the consolation prize in Ranter's free CFP-90 thread. He sent me a pack he wouldn't sell (it was a little dusty) for shipping only. Great guy!

Been following Dave on wilderness outfitters for a long, long time, and he's a great guy. Always commenting back and touching base with his fans.

I also enjoy how they play up to each others strengths now more, or at least are able to acknoledge it on camera. Dave calling Cody the medicine man of fire was great, how hes able to turn an ember into a fire with whatever he has. I feel like Dave was also talking about Bear Grylls, when he found that dead beaver. And how some people will just go ahead and eat whatever carrion they "find". Also, using that oil gland in the dead beaver to coat his tools was just nifty.
