Ultimate ZS Battle/Scout Belt Thread

I had thought about the Vtac belt too but the HSGI was actually cheaper.

Heres a few pics I ripped from video of my range trip on friday.

So I got bored and scavanged the house for the sustainment pouch.



FIRE: matches in waterproof container, lighter, fire steel, tinderbox w/lent soaked in petro jelly,

FOOD: 2 cliff bars , 2 GU packs (ditched one from photo)

First aid: SAM Splint cut in half, kerlex, alcohol pads/ wipes, cravat, gauze bandage (Blow out kit: trams shears, SOF tourniquet, izzy, gloves, kerlex)

Shelter: emergency blanket

Extras: 25 feet of 550 cord, small pliers/wire cutters, tape electrical/100mph, stripped down cleaning kit (patches, snake, brush, lube)

I ditched the hand sanitizer and saline, alcohol pads do the same as the hand sanitizer and I need a smaller bottle of saline. Need to also add a few meds, foot powder, extra pair of socks and some combat gauze.

Any other suggestions welcome!

GD4- how about a multi-tool? Also, I didn't see any water/ability to carry water in the list or pix. The one I put together and carried in the Corps was just a belt kit. I also had a Blachawk ISAAK system, basically the same as y'all's kit that I had an SOE camelbak pouch attached to the suspender straps.

I plan on getting one of the new MUT's, the water thing is up in the air right now. I must have some sort of filtration in the hydration system, and I need a silcock key.

I want a way to attach it right to the suspenders but detachable from it so it wont get in the way once I get the Plate carrier on. Which I haven't tried yet BTW I think I have the belt too high to wear with the plate carrier which with a little adjustment I think I could how ever we will see..

Well here is my set up (pre range) which is why none of my straps are taped. All I need to do is stuff the big pouch and throw my IFAK back together. I have no idea how much it will weigh but its got some heft to it topped off with mags.

HSGI sure grip padded belt, 3x r/p taco's, HSGI IFAK, Marz Combat medic pouch(24 hr kit), HSGI frag pouch (compass/gps) Safariland holster and maxpidition dump pouch.

I'm pumping this up to ask a couple of questions about your gear GD4...

How are you liking that Marz pouch? Any complaints? I have a TT E&E pouch on the back of my belt loaded as a mini survival kit, but I've been thinking about replacing it with one of these Marz pouches.

Does the HSGI frag pouch work well at holding your GPS? I've been looking for a better way to carry my Garmin when hunting/hiking.

How are you liking that Marz pouch? Any complaints? Pouch is awesome, the mags set really deep behind the pouch but they are hard to get to anyway on my back. You can cram a pretty good amount in it and organize is pretty well with the loops and the mesh. The "drawbridge" opening is nice since I can open it with it on my back and dig through it with one hand pretty goood and not have shit fall out. Does the HSGI frag pouch work well at holding your GPS? It holds my compass just fine, I'm in between GPS's now but I think a Etrex would be a tight fit. I've been looking for a better way to carry my Garmin when hunting/hiking.

Great thread guys. I was reading it the other day and it lit a fire under my ass to get a belt setup started.

So today I snagged one of these...



... and will be getting one of these...



... of course, I'll add the obligitory HSGI TACO's, dump pouch, various pouches, etc.


My question is- how do I attach the Camelbak to the Brokos belt?

I would use the Camelback as the suspenders, make it a self contained system, I have been debating about doing this myself...

Well the belt in the HSGI one is a pain in the ass, you thought putting taco's on was a bitch... the belt is a pain in the ass to set up. But I dont think you could go wrong either way, except for the life time warranty thing..

Also, how are you planning to run the suspenders on your Camelbak to your belt? I'm looking at mine and figure the rear loops can be attached to the rear of the belt with relative ease, but what about the front?

Okay, decided I'm going to run the HSGI belt. The price is right and it will work better for my planned setup (two belt mounted HSGI min dropleg panels- one for pistol holster, one for 2 pistol mags)

I’m going to ignore the fact you mentioned drop leg in this thread. There are multiple shops in the K-town area that will sew stuff for you, that is what HSGI told me to do when I talked to them about my suspenders being too long.

You should just mount the pistol on the belt or something that hangs off the belt just a little bit. Trust me.

I’m going to email HSGI today about how I want to "attach" the camelback and I’ll let you know what they say.

I would take advantage of the buckles on the front of your Camelback. Go find two more buckles and some 1" webing that will work with the Camelbak. Attach the bottom half of the strap to the rear of your belt. Take the top half of the buckle, attach more webbing and run that down to the front of your belt.

Well, the way I want to run this, I'm just not gonna have much room on my belt (partly because my waist is so smal). The dropleg thing isn't really in stone yet, but seems like something I could learn to like.

But yeah, keep me posted.

You can find the fastex buckles all over the place for cheap, if you wear the drop leg off the belt you will limit your movement if you wear the belt a little over your hips. Even with my safariland that was not a full drop leg it would bind up if I bent over at all. You could run it off your regular belt and free up the SGPB look at the pics I posted close and you will see what I mean.
