I'm thinking about coming out to this but I dont think I can make it for the whole thing, If I can I wanna make it for the seminars just for all the good info and such any advice or hints for a person who might just be coming there for one of the days then?

If it is, I'm going to fly in, likely monday night if someone will put me up for the night before and/or after zcon. Will also be looking for space in someone's tent (and will probably buy a camp chair at wal-mart.) I Might be able to bring my tent, dunno how much room I will have if flying.
I was thinking of driving through the night to get there but this sounds like a much better idea. If anyone can put up with me for one night in their driveway or backyard I'd appreciate it. A couch would be great but I cannot accept unless I have an electrical outlet.

I don't want to crash on the couch without an outlet because, well, ya'll have heard about people sawing logs? I don't. I clear-cut forests when I'm off my CPAP.

I'm camping in or near the Jeep for the same reason.

I do the same, though I never use my cpap because it always made my sinus's get dry and cause me to get sick, or too moist and cause me to get sick... Ill just alert those within 50 yards that if it gets bad, a kick to the hammock should either make it stop, or wake me up, either way a break from it...

I tried to get a costume maker friend of mine to make me a pink, faux snakeskin codpiece for manbath. He wouldn't do it.

Just don't send it to Ripleys, because they use Jonathan Frakes to narrate/host it, and well, he's a hairy mofo and might just cast the video of ass "PFT, PLEASE, THIS GUY AIN'T GOT SHIT ON _MAH_ BEARD" and we'll never get me famous :(

So, in all the camping and hiking I've done, I've never picked up a tick. Everyone seems to be up playing the amount of ticks a Z-Con to the point where I'm convinced I'm going to get one.

Would one of these be useful?

I think Beth and Crypto were talking up those things.

I'm curious about it too. I used to live in rural Missouri and yea, you -will- get ticks. I've spent what must be a combined total of DAYS of my life searching for and removing ticks. :\ You not-so-hairy people have it easy, I tell ya.

Incredibly so. Last year we have a communal one hanging on the tree by the water station. I had to use it twice. In a week out there you are highly likely to get ticks on you. And by highly I mean you will. However, in all my years at zcon i've only had 5 sink in, and every one of those was caught fairly quickly. I do a tick check a couple times a day. Wear long pants with boots and always have a hat on. I also like to cut my hair short before zcon so that they are easier to find. I douse my clothing liberally with bug spray and that seesm to work.

I can personally attest to the effectiveness of the tick key. Bethany used one last year to remove one of those filthy blood-sucking vermin from my neck last year. I hate those things and douse myself thoroughly with repellent frequently during Z-Con but Horatio is right - they are almost unavoidable.

getting a tick, Im not worried about... Im sure it will happen, but I dont think I've ever had a tick go unnoticed for more than a few hours... and usually, the quicker you get the off, the less likely anything will happen

what I am curious about is, are the ticks in the area known to be major disease carriers, or just plain ol ticks..

for instance, in the upper part of the mitten, in Michigan, Lyme disease is yet to be carried by those ticks...

so if you get a tick up there, you dont have to worry about Lyme, just the usual bacteria
