Anyone know if this is smoothbore or rifled? Either way it would normally be NFA so they obviously got the "Sporting Purposes" exemption just like the other makers of handguns over .50 caliber. It seems smooth would be better but it would be kinda cool of it could shoot saboted slugs.

No, there is no exemption required. It has a rifled bore so it is a pistol.

Remember... BATFE doesn't give a shit about logic or thinking. All they care about is the letter of law and specific classification. Just like an object that is actually a pistol would be a SHORT BARRELED RIFLE in some cases, this is not a shotgun, despite firing shot, because the barrel is rifled - making it a pistol by NFA definition.

It is my understanding that anything over .50 besides shotguns is considered a destructive device unless it is given a "Sporting Purposes Exemption". This usually means that anything with a large bore, short barrel, and no stock is AOW or DD depending on if it is rifled or not.

At least they put a better stock on the thing . The furniture and stocks on the other 556 series guns are garbage. This at least looks like a 550 series folder

that's true. Sig 550 stock and foregrip are a step in the right direction.

Yea, I wasn't realizing that 28ga was over .500. I thought it was a question about why shotshell handguns were ok. I guess your exemption is the most logical answer.

Yeah I'm glad they got it. Maybe more people will make such things soon and I won't have to buy it from Taurus. I have absolutly no use for it, but it would be lots of fun.

With better ergonomics and versatility. If they are under 1k, I might want. But they won't be.

Its a $1500 gas piston rifle using AK mags in 7.62x39 with a retractable buttstock and a grip mounted safety.

I already have one of those, its called a Krebs KTR-03 and I paid less for it than this sig. *Yawn*

If they want to innovate, give me a Sig 542, now that is something I can get behind.

Hardly. It is likely to be just as accurate as any other well made AK-100 in 7.62x39. The only thing that really sets the sig apart is if it uses a cold hammer-forged gas-nitrided barrel that with a better 2 stage trigger gives it the potential to be more accurate.

To be fair, Krebs no longer make the KTR-03, and when you find one on sale it's a premium.

I think this has potential. It could be more accurate, more ergonomic, adjustable gas, folding & adjustable stock, uses std. mags.

With Arsenals, Krebs etc, going for $1,000 I don't think this would be out of wack in the $1200-$1400 range when street pricing settles down.

Of course the caveat is: will it run?

I'm actually kind of intrigued by that mag clip. (lol at the name, srsly)

I don't -think- it replaces mag pouches for anyone, though. The only down side I see is that you leave your feed lips exposed which may get them damaged or cause the first round to become dislodged or misaligned, either dumping a bit of ammo, or causing pains in reloading when you grab a mag with the first round sticking halfway out. However it seems pretty convenient for some casual tasks.

Those just made me think of this, what ever happened to those "Magazine Magazine's" that showed up last year about this time? It was a plastic contraption that strapped to you're chest, was spring loaded, and held like 3 loaded mags. ??

That integrally suppressed .22 pistol with the window-breaker on the end - I can think of no other user than an assassin. They say that it was designed at the specific request of a purchaser - I can only think of CIA or mafia. Either way, it was cool, but kind of gave me the creeps.

And I want one.

I don't want the stupid glass breaker or the rail or the milled receiver that accepts holo sights... but everything else is what I want. That in mind, there's already a handful of manufacturers, at least, that make integrally suppressed Ruger Mk-I/II/III guns you can buy, so other than hanging some shit on theirs, it's nothing new. :P
