Here is a few from when I was home. What you see is how mother nature will reclaim everything from train tracks to graveyards.

There are train tracks under there. Makes me think how long will the roads we travel survive without someone to maintain them.

Here are a few post Katrina Pictures.

Causeway Blvd and West Esplanade. A major north/south and east west intersection.

Image

A suburban street in Metairie lined with $1mm plus homes. The skiff is what I used to check on a friend's house. It was not mine but the Blackwater folks agreed to let me use it.
Image

Interstate 610 at the I-10/610 split looking east.
Image

Same spot but looking west.
Image

A view looking towards the river at Poydras Street. The helo is landing at the Superdome Heleport.
Image

Street level at Poydras looking out from the Superdome.

Image

Interstate on ramps neat the Superdome.
Image

Houses near near one failed levee. The sand dunes were 5 feet high and were not there before the storm.
Image

A Learjet Model 23 that did not fly out in time and weathered the storm at N.O. Lakefront Airport which is outside the levee system.
Image

All that is left of a bank building on the MS gulf coast at an elevation of 20 feet MSL but about 1/4 mile from the GOM. That is the vault. Note the rusty door. The houses in the background have been rebuilt.

Image

A new meaning to the phrase waterfront condo. These condos are about 10 ft MSL and 100 yards from the beach.
