Who's on air?

Postby mattltm » Sat Dec 04, 2010 5:53 am

Thought it would be a good idea to create a "who's on air" thread.

Post the following:

Callsign (if you want to)
Freq
Mode

May be a good idea to post if you go off air to?

What do ya think?

This is a good idea but it would be even better if we had something in real time. I'll look into it.

*Edit

I just thought of echolink. We can make private conference where we can see who's online and on air.

How about an agreed upon HF frequency for an "official" ZS net? Given that we have ppl from all over North America and in other parts of the world I think this would be a great thing. Sometimes conditions won't allow some to communicate but it would be worth setting up and seeing how many contacts or "check-ins" we can get at designated times. Maybe have designated frequencies on 20meters and 10meters. The 10meters would allow Technician class operators to try and check in.

Just an idea. And if ya wanted to take it a step further you could also setup frequencies for "talk-in" to ZS events, etc. that would be standardized.

Just my 0.02.

id might suggest 17 meters over 20, due to how croweded 20 gets during contests.

but i am up for trying to make contacts with some people here on zs, just say time and freq and if I am available, ill try. all i got is a 100 watts and some hamsticks but I am willing to give it a shot.

And at 10pm EST 1.9mhz (160 meter)
Talking off a G5RV lite.

I am working on my 6 meter portable antenna setup, and over the next few weeks will randomly be testing to see what contacts I can pull in. Any of you guys do much around 51Mhz? From what I understand, there is a chance of some skip propagation, what with the recent burst of sunspots.

just fyi, I am just using a Yaesu HT and (at the moment) a homemade rattail antenna, so I really dont expect much luck. But its always fun to try.
I have no witty quotes at the moment.

I've got an Icom T8A tribander but have not really tried 6 meter yet. One of these days I really need to test it out.

KD0QLQ - Sean
Currently operating 2m FM only.
Currently I monitor weekends, some evenings, and commute. Typically monitor the CRA linked repeater 147.225+/107.2, DRC repeater 145.490-/100.0 and Colorado Connection linked repeater 145.310-/123.0 and sometimes simplex especially 146.400.
I also am Echolink node 666831 - but it it does not work well from my home internet (satellite connection) depending on time of day.

Soon I hope to be equipped for UHF and HF operation, as well as other VHF modes, looking for a Yeasu FT-857D or Icom IC-7000 or similar. I also have to build some HF antennas. I'll update as I progress.

Still looking for a way to join the ZSRC net on Sundays since that is a very bad time for echolink from my home - the local repeaters that are echolink on 2m do not support conference bridging - but UHF does. Soon I hope! Looking forward to actually TALKING to fellow ZSRC members!

I'm currently scanning through 20 meters, but can't transmit because my antenna is encased in a solid coating of ice.
NOTE: Due to the rising cost of ammunition, warning shots will no longer be given.

Looks like 1.9mhz has a nightly rag chew by another group. Tonight I'll try again
9pm EST (Cleveland time) 7.2mhz (40meter)
10pm EST 1.85mhz (160meter)

Does anyone want to try a 10meter connection? Maybe about 9:30?
