Introduction/Las Vegas Range Day

Postby Facejackets » Fri Sep 18, 2009 10:26 am

Hey guys!

How are you doing?

This is my first post as a ZSC:009 member. I am stoked to have found this board. I was about three seconds away from starting the SNZRT, Southern Nevada Zombie Response Team, but since I was told about this site, and found ZSC:009, I don't think there is a need for that.

I have noticed a few threads talking about a range day. I wanted to know if any of you have something planned yet, and if not, I would like to get something together?

Where do you guys go shooting most of the time? There are a couple of decent spots around Mile Marker 12, on S. Las Vegas Blvd, and there is another nice spot at Lovell Canyon, which is about half way to Pahrump.

Anyway, if anyone has anything planned let me know!

Thanks

Hey FJ, Good to see you here. I'm down with a range day. I live close to Sloan too. I haven't met any of these guys and gals yet but they seem like a cool bunch. Let's check out their next meeting.

Any chance I had of being able to check out one of the meetings just got shot down. Yesterday my manager made me switch shifts on Thursdays so I don't get off until 9:30pm instead of 7pm.

Thanks for the link btw.

I will PM eerie a little later today about the range day.

I can get us some Tannerite for it too. So that'll be fun.

I'm all for it, been waiting for this for awhile, we could all go to American Shooters on Spring Mtn., or the Gun Store on E. Tropicana, unless you all have a preference, I'm stocked up on ammo and mags so I am good to go, lets all shoot and have a beer afterwards!!!! :)

You can't bring the fun stuff to the real ranges.

I have a good spot out in the desert big enough for 50+ people.

I can get us some Tannerite for the shoot as well.

It isn't set up for long range shooting though. I'm not sure how all of you feel about that though. There is maybe 100-150 yards to shoot.

Don't know what Tannerite is? This is what happened the last time my friends got together for a shoot.

i dont know if youve had a chance to talk to eerie about setting this up or not yet but i mentioned it to him the other day...and he said that we'd need someone who is certified to do an "official" range day that way we're covered in case something happens and it keeps hq off our asses...i dont know if youre certified or anything but if not im sure a few of us wouldnt mind doing an unofficial day out shooting

No certifications here.

I guess we can make it unofficial.

I have done a bunch of shoots with numerous peole and nothing has ever happened.

What certifications do they need?

And yes I pm'd eerie.

Sorry it took so long for me to check out this thread... just with all the fund raising stuff coming up just slacking in checking the boards... So yeah Range Day as long as we do it at either an official range and not just "some place in the desert people go shoot" then I don't think we need a certified person in the squad. If we do just go to an unofficial place to save on range fees then to put the ZS name on it we need a certified (any thing that says you can teach other people gun safety). Now that's not official or anything HQ said so the squad can vote on what restriction it wishes prior to submitting the request to HQ some one just needs to bring it up at a meeting and take charge of the whole thing.

Don't know if any of you're still interested in this but we're looking for an outdoor place so we can have another range day. the last two we had were held at american shooters so we're wanting to branch out some and do some desert shooting...

I'd be interested in going to a range day whether it's indoors or out. I didn't make it to the meeting last week, so it would be an awesome place to meet everybody else.

I know it was mentioned at the last meeting we'd like to get together for another range day soon but nothing was set...i know some of the squad is going to the gun show at cashmen on the 11th and we have an event and meeting the following week so i'm not sure if the squad is going to be able to pull together a range day before the next meeting but i may end up going to the clark county shooting park on decatur sometime in the next week or so if you're interested

I know im always ready to go to the range, let me know time and place, and i am one of those goin to the gun show, think its gonna be a good experience. I also have 5 guns and have no issues with letting people shoot them, just need to talk about contributing for ammo and what not.

It was good, seemed to be a lot more junk vendors than usual. You know, selling trinkets and jewelry and crap knives and whatnot. I got some ammo, some new mag pouches and some high-cap mags for the Sig. I was keeping my eyes open for and ZS logos, but saw none.

Speaking of that, what would it take to have a small booth at one of these events? you know another way to get the word out and sell some of the merch?

i think it would just take getting in touch with who is in charge of the gun shows and paying for a table...which probably isn't going to be cheap...and i doubt we'd make the money back..but maybe if we could find someone who was going to have a table anyway they might let us piggy back in with them
