What would scratching a zombie do? Though you could use them like uncomfortable brass knuckles.

I don't want to get close enough to touch a zombie.

You know you have to destroy the brain, right? I don't think those would pierce deep enough.

Not really. I can't pick up a bat or fire a weapon with them on.

Sorry, man. The only thing I see those things doing is catching in a zombie's flesh or cloths and tangling you up. If your hands get stuck, there's going to be a nice, meaty treat a few inches from the zombie's mouth.

I think the majority of martial arts weapons are going to be pretty useless against zombies. Some of the impact weapons might work, but they won't do anything a good bat wouldn't.

I will await the comments about the 'Shaolin Spade' to begin.

Yeah, those climbing claws are fun, but as a weapon against zombies I'd rather have a rock. I've been thinking, though. Wouldn't it be a good idea to have a small grappling hook and line on your belt, in case you got cornered in an alley or something? It would be risky, but I'd rather try and reach the fire escape than be eaten and reanimated.

I’d like to state for the record that anyone who engages a zombie in hand to hand combat for any other reason than a LAST RESORT is absolutely, positively, fucking nuts. I don’t care if you have a shaolin spade, katana, axe, bat, trench spike, whatever, it won’t go down like it does in the movies. I don’t care if you trained 20 years under Master Icankickyourass it’s going to end badly for you. BUY a gun, if you can’t afford one, start a good physical training regiment, learn to run, you’ll live a lot longer.

::Frowns an Asian frown, the worst kind::

Also: I wouldn't even use a Shaolin spade to dig a freaking hole. The thing is probably handy in combat (at least against a big slow guy or a cow), but... COME ON!

Big, heavy, hard to carry, when I can just get a ColdSteel "entrenching tool"... WHICH, by the way, I recently discovered can be used like a 'hawk for throwing.

Throwing shovels? Hell yes.
If you drop a zombie, does that count as a kill?

...Think about it.

As a last resort with nothing to pick up I would use these. Putting them on only when needed.

For the type of situation where those would be my only option, I dont think I would have time to get them from my pack and put them on. I think the space that they would take up could be used for something more practical. Like ammo.

Sergeant,

Maybe we're missing something. How would you use these to kill a zombie? I don't see how the curved spikes would penetrate a skull. Please explain.

Oh I see I'd probably have the claw in one hand and just have that or a normal knife like a Glock knife.

Or maybe they would make good tools..no rope is lighter. maybe they are useless and this is a waste of space. Yeah that's it.
