Hey what are you XJ guys doing for gun mounts? Been thinking about a way to secure a shotgun in the jeep, and I'm getting ready to pitch money at it so I may as well get all my ducks in a row.

My mossy rides behind the drivers seat with the butt near the floor board. The receiver and barrel sit between the rear seat and the rear door. Never moves and still allows someone to sit on that side. Easy to access to if I need it. Hard to see and if I need to a shirt completely covers the visible portions.

Felt like resurrecting this great old thread. Figured I throw up a couple of pictures.

Two pretty classic stickers with a little artistic twist to them:

I want to beat mine with a wrecking ball at the moment. I have a light lighting problem and a rough idle. I think a injector shit the bed on me. I also have a bad tranny mount also my horn is dead

Well off to the bone yard for a few parts. Im going to try the 4.0L injectors in the 2.5L. I will report back on how well this misadventure of mine goes.

Also my windshield is broke from some mysterious force. Why did i get a jeep again??

I will be damed and dumped in butter  The 4.0L injectors and fuel pressure regulator I grabed from the bone yard work like a charm. Man did it ever wake those hampsters I have up.

*WARNING* i do not intend to do off road with it. it will be at the worse. to go at my cabin, camping or trail.

i will get a V6 4X4 or all wheel drive. probably around 3.3L

Mine just LOOKS like it's been beat with a wrecking ball. I do have to admit that behind every dent and mashed in body panel, there's a story to go with it. For a 2005 model with less than 33K miles, it's been places most people would be afraid to drive a tank. :D

I think the most fun I've ever had was our offroading club's first annual offroad race, which I won even after hitting a tree head-on at 40 or so MPH due to a miscalculation at speed. Second most fun would be the day I pulled 3 different vehicles out of a huge mudhole. I went in after every one of them, dragged each one out, and convinced the owners of all 3 that they needed to own Jeeps instead.

Pics are from the race, the Jeep was treated like it owed me back child support that day. Someone else made the one pic into a motivational poster.

Mine was also the only Jeep that was driven there, and driven home at 60+MPH down the road (roughly 20 miles each way) with no problems. Everyone else brought big, trailered-only rigs.

Since mine runs better I have also been driving mine a little hard but hey she likes it rough.

Lighting problem fixed and horn is still broken and I have no idea. I fixed the lighting problem and now my door buzzer works I didn't even know it had a door buzzer  All the small problems fix except the dam horn. Going to pick up a new transmission this weekend, now this will be nice as I would like to have 5th gear again.

Also just found out my gears and front locker shipped today. I hope to have them in by first of next month. I don't know what I am going to do I will have a good tranny and gears, engine is running better, it is going to feel like a whole new jeep.

I will get picks of here up in a day or two.

I love the lockers. I had started with fully open, then a welded rear, then Aussie front/welded rear, and finally Aussie front and rear. Pretty much everything works on mine too. Every now and then the passenger seat belt jams up a little and doesn't want to extend once retracted fully. Mine was down pretty much all Summer last year so I plan on getting out in it a lot this Summer with the top and doors off.

Nope. No way short of putting the Scrap car on a Jeep frame.

I drive mine like I stole it (at or under the speed limit, gentle throttle and braking so as not to attract attention, etc.) right up until I'm on a backroad or trail. Then I drive it like I rented it.

And I love the demotivational poster.

My 89 YJ.
I plan to rebuild it from the wheels up this summer. She's rough. No power, rusted to hell...
Its a daily driver so I wants some highway comfort and speed, but she will also be my camping vehicle.
Open to thoughts or suggestions.

I got em all in one shot. My 03 TJ, my 01 XJ, and my wife's 00 XJ in the background.

The TJ is lifted, locked and ready to rock. While its somewhat vulnerable with a soft top, that gives a full 180* shooting radius. It's a trade off.

The XJs aren't built yet. In a freak of events we ended up with 2 good ones withing a few months of each other and are playing maintenance catch up with them before dumping any lifts or offroading parts into them.

My soft top has been battle tested against 2 people beating against it in anger. Soft top 1, bad guys 0. Against a knife it's worse than useless but hordes of undead it should do alright on. Just FYI. And nice rigs. :D

If you're planning to ever take it offroad, lockers in the differentials. Aussie brand runs about $269 or so for each axle around here. And a good winch would come in handy (had one but burnt it up, gotta get another).

Edit - and that's a darn good looking YJ. I like it.

Thanks Red.
This jeep came from up north so the floors are shot. We are going to put on a new tub, upgrade the suspension, and repair and repaint it.
The motor has no power on the hwy, so im debating an engine swap. A buddy of mine is dropping a v-8 in his YJ. I want to see how that turn out...

My TJ has the 4.0L inline 6 so it's okay on power, nothing to fast. But I bought a 5.3L V-8 for a rock buggy project and have given a little thought to one day throwing it under the hood of the TJ if the buggy doesn't materialize. Got the motor from Knox Auto Parts in Knoxville, TN along with a 700R4 transmission.
