Alaska Summergeddon

Postby thecheeto » Mon Sep 06, 2010 7:07 pm

We Alaskans had our own mini Summergeddon. The four year old boy makes it more fun. Especially when it rains all day the second day and some of the 3rd morning. A great time was had by all though and some lessons were learned for future kid inclusive camping trips.

The site on the first day. Nice and sunny.

A rabbit REALLY wanted to be dinner. Luckily for it, we had plenty of chow.

I didn't make the oar, another guy did but its full of victory for sure... unfortunately you can't see the paracord wrap job. I mean its no telephone cord, but it'll do. Hopefully he'll jump in with a few more pics and or comments. Also, we played Zombie Fluxx during the camp out.

Looks like a good time. Thanks for sharing what the Far Northern Alliance is up to. As for rain, we have that now too. Summer is over, not that we had a lot of it.

Some more photos. It was a very good debugging run for my gear. Discovered a few things I could leave at home the next time and a few things that would've been good to have instead. All the old standby gear was still in working order which was good to confirm.

The aforementioned ZS oar did a fine job supporting our improvised tarp shelter due to the unexpected rain.

Well unless we get an unflux of new blood I suspect it'll be just us again. I've got another friend who has been expressing interest in ZS and lives here in Anchorage, so maybe we can drag him along. =D

I'd love to go next time. Sadly, next time I'll be in anc is nov 14-16 for my last flight out.

You guys take care of my home state for me, ok.
RIP HK33K and Pathfinder Paul. You guys will be missed.

I'd like to go, but considering the distance involved it's not likely to happen.
