What long arm and handgun are you using to bug out?

Postby alfred10 » Sun Aug 29, 2010 2:05 pm

I am going with a Glock 21 for my side arm. I shoot it well and it will function longer than most other guns in bad conditions. Im leaving my 1911 at home.

I am still deciding which long arm I want to take. I rulled out my M1A and am considering my M4, AK, or a Sig 556 or getting a DSA Fal with a short barrel.

What guns are you taking and why?

ATM I'e gotta go with my P-11 and my mauser. It's what I've got. My gf will have to use my shotty and my .38 snubby. Hopefully she won't actually have to use either.

AR15 and ruger P95. Yeah, there are better handguns out there but it is the only handgun I have at the moment and can't afford another one. So if the SHTF before I can afford another one, that's what it will be.

Sig 556 and Beretta 92FS. It's what I have and what I use, not necessarily a fantasy-based, internet-ideal choice. Of course, the question is a bit fantasy-based because, if I actually have to leave my home and bug-out armed on US soil the answer is "All of them", or "every last one I can carry".

I don't plan on bugging-out, but if the situation became so dire where I was forced to leave my home, I would mostly likely take my AR-15 and Glock 23.

If I can only choose 2, its my XD 40 and my Rem. 870.

If I could take two long arms I would add my Pre ban FN-FAL Paratroop. I never take it out anymore though because it has all the California EBR Qualities and every single time LEO sees it I have to go through a one hour Dog and Pony show.

Maybe none. It depends on the situation. Not all bug out situations will require a firearm. Just out of curiosity, given the repeated weird firearms questions that you always seem to ask, do you even own any of those firearms that you listed? How about posting a few photos? Besides, didn't you say in another thread that you typically carry three different handguns on you and you wanted to find out about adding a fourth?

All three of our shotguns, the double-barrel, the Mossy 500 8-shot, and the S-12.

My AR and my SKS, along with any other rifle I have at the time.

Both of my Sigma .40 cal pistols and any other pistol I have at the time.

Oh, and I'll be attempting to locate Alfred's house so I can get that 1911...

Look, if the situation is SO bad that I have to leave home, since I'll be living out in the middle of nowhere, I'm taking every gun I can load up in/on the truck/dune buggy because you never know what extra ammo you might run across. I might run across some farmhouse that has plenty of ammo for a 12 gauge but no 5.56, if I just brought the AR, then it's now a club when I run out of ammo... I'll also be grabbing every firearm I can find, parts is parts...

Depends, but generally either my AR or my M1 Carbine, and M&P45. Wife also has access to M1 Carbine, and S&W 327PD revolver. If bugging out by car, I'd likely add my Mossberg 590A1, SKS, and Springfield '03A3. This is something I need to think more about.

As I don't own anything that could reliably eliminate a threat, nor do I have the knowledge or experience to handle such, presently I shall give the unfortunate answer of none. Aside from the "Long Arm" of the law, by way of cell phone.

My Eberlestock Gunslinger pack is set up to handle 2 long guns, the support belt has a Bianchi UM84 holster on it. If I have to bug out from my house I hopefully will take my truck and be able to take a bunch of stuff. If it is on foot the pack with my airweight AR build and HK 121M, CZ-52 in holster and Papashaw in hand. The family rally point is about 3 miles from my house and most of my firearms are already duplicated there.

sidearm - glock 19
longarm - depends on the situation... how, where, when, and what is so bad that i am leaving my man cave.

Saiga AK X39 & Glock 34. Because they are tough, reliable, common calibers/platforms, and I train the most with them.

Sorry, I changed my answer again.

If by car, the answer is still "EVERYTHING".

However, if I have to leave on foot, and the situation is bad enough that I'm going armed, into what was very recently "polite society" of my AO, there's a whole nother thing to deal with.

This gets into theoretical gray areas, because the situation is dire enough that I'm leaving everything behind and having to bug out on foot right then and there. With that said, I'd carry as much weapons as I could conceal.

If shit is hitting the fan that hard, I'll be damned if I'm gonna be walking among the hordes of possible .mil and LEOs with a rifle slung.

This means my Beretta, Kahr, and Kimber. Beretta in my Camelbak Demon pack. I'd also be bringing my AMD 65 folded up because it's easy to conceal. I might break down my AR and stow it, but really I'd probably just load up on mags and ammo for the AMD.

Doing something like that is definitely "Plan F" or lower on my list though. Yeesh.

The top one is the primary weapon, its for carrying and most longer range 5-15 yard type scenarios. Second one is a bit more compact for CQB and house clearing type situations, it rides in a thigh holster. The bottom one is a BUB (Back Up Blunderbuss), its a bit large for an ankle holster so it rides in a shin holster.

My middy AR. If I have to go on foot for any long period of time, carrying my entire BOB, I don't wish to deal with the weight of an extra handgun. My M-4 style that I've been running the last few years is in the midst of being phased out for this purpose by a very light weight version built on a cav arms lower. With transpo, everything and everything is on the table.

My Side Arm - Glock 32 .357sig

My Long arm - Sig 556

The Glock 32 is because its what I shoot best and its the easiest to take care of. The Sig 556 because its my only rifle. If I was in a vehicle I would also take my Maverick 88 shotgun and CZ75b single action 9mm.

Sub2k. Its currently my only semi auto, and its my smallest rifle/the rifle I shoot best with. (I really need to stop dumping all my spare cash into tattoos) And if I could get to my girlfriends house, I might be able to get my hands on a Glock 23.

Rifle: FN PS90
Handgun: Glock 19 or FiveseveN (if the it can wait another month or two my handgun choice will probably change to an FNP45 Tactical)

Since the P90 is so small I am usually able to carry a shotgun easily. But if I can only have 2 I'll stick with my first answers.
