Sonic Boom today, who heard it?

Fighters Scramble, Trigger Sonic Boom, After Seaplane Breaches Air Space

http://www.kirotv.com/news/24664589/detail.html

I heard and felt this walking into the PX at Lewis today. Who else heard/felt this and how far are you away from Ft. Lewis? From the an account that my wife told me about it took the fighter planes 40 minutes to get from Vancouver, WA to where the plane landed to the secret service being there. What are your thoughts? Please, let's try to keep the "politics" out of it as much as we can.

I was on the 14th floor of the Pacific building in down town Seattle. Yeah I felt it.

It felt and sounded like someone dropped a car from the top of the building onto the floor above us.

The problem being the time it took them to get on station, in that amount of time if it had been someone with bad intentions it would have been done and over with in that amount of time. Why the escort didnt land at Boeing or McCord is beyond me, would have been a much faster response time.

I heard that it took them 2 minutes to get here from Vancouver. It's about 150 miles. If they took 40 minutes they would've only been going something like 200 mph.

Not to be a total geek, but if a plane travels 150 miles in 2 minutes, they would have to be travelling at Hypersonic speeds (> Mach 5) or 4,500 MPH.

In reallity they were probalby traveling around Mach 2 or 1,317 MPH.

At Mach 2 it would take 6 minutes and 50 seconds (not including takeoff or landing)

..as evidenced by the double - twin booms, one for each "Mach", of each aircraft.

Makes sense. 2 minutes is just what I heard on the radio. I only did the math in my head for 40 minutes.

I didn't hear anything out of the ordinary, as I was in a bathroom stall at the time.

I didn't hear them but I was away from home driving my wife around for appointments with the radio blaring and the AC on full blast. The F-15's from PDX are old acquaintances since I'm from North Portland and was on their flight path for westerly take offs and landings. (If they take off to the east they fly over Troutdale.)

However, last week when we were up at Snoqualmie Pit as a family we had two FA-18's fly low over us and rattled everyone up there. Fortunately we had our ear protection on, they were that loud. They were not the Blue Angels, this was after their show by a few days. Always good to see our jets up there.

I was half asleep (super hot, nodded off on the couch) and I thought it was artillery fire (4 yrs in an arty battery does that) and I jumped up, not fully awake. Not really a flashback, but confused that crap out of me for a minute.

Back in the 80's I was stationed at a base that was the primary intercept squadron for California, back in the day when the Russians flew Backfires right up to the edge of US Airspace (I forget the term now)

You could always tell when it was an active air scramble as the 2 F-15's would be out of the barn and on the runway in like 2 minutes, throttle up to military power, release the brakes, and they were airborne before they got 1/4 down the runway. That nose got pointed straight up, afterburner kicked in and they were gone from sight in a couple of seconds and then you get the double sonic boom, it was even more kick ass at night.

Heard it I was in Spanaway at the time parked with the driver's window rolled down working on the computer. First thing I thought was someone was shooting. Then I thought something happened at Ft. Lewis.
