Just found these in a random folder on the back up hard drive...an old wheeling trip in GW National Forest.

My K5. My cousin's Bronco. And our good friend's XJ (which I sold him a couple months prior) Funny thing...There was an awesome three-tier water fall right behind us, but I obviously felt the rigs were more photogenic.



Obligatory action shot...the trail is much steeper than it looks in the photo. I am on the same hill behind him so it looks almost flat in the photo, lol.

Great choice! I love those tires. Specifically, in areas with heavy snow and ice. They will certainly go on my next DD Jeep

'86 4Runner- K&N, ENGBLDR 270 cam, LCE header, Flowmaster, 4" Solid Axle Swap, 35's, 5.29's, dual transfer cases w/4.7's,Twinstick, locked frt/rr, 30 spline Longfield Superaxles, Bumpers and sliders built by me, Can-Back, Warn XD9500i w/syn line, etc...

The stock final crawl (4x low, 1st gear) is 36:1. With my set up it's now 223:1.

Maybe someone here knows. Is there a way to mount a spare on the rear lift gate of a 2004 Grand Cherokee? I hate the thought of having to un-pack supplies to access the spare. I can always go for the roof rack option but just wanted to be sure it was the only one.

You'd have to get an aftermarket steel rear bumper with an attachment for the spare tire carrier. The rear lift gate won't support the tires weight.

Hell on most XJs the rear pistons can't hold the rear hatchs wight.

My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo WJ 4x4 (4.0L)
I haven't done a lot too it, yet... steel wheels, roof rack, rhino lined front grill, skid plates, tow hooks...
My plans are.... rhino line plastic exterior, rock rails, black out tails, and some interior stuff like a cb radio and a 360* night vision camera (basically creating a DVE for driving off road in blackout conditions).

That would be nice. It would also be good for general tire monitoring.


We (me and the Jeep) went to check on some Ammo Supply Points today. Decided to snap a pic. Under the poncho and tarp are my pack, recovery equipment, water, and extra fuel. I have a fire extinguisher inside, combat trauma kit, and each seat has their own nomex fire-resistant hood, ratchet tourniquet, and seatbelt cutter, as well as some other things I'll keep to myself due to thieves. I also have a woodland/desert camo net to cover it if I'm packing and leaving it in a spot for a period of time. I prefer my equipment to be 'out of sight - out of mind' when left alone.

Hell I'd be happy with a camera on my front drive shaft. So I could watch it eat u joints like a fat kid eating ding dongs.

I already have a netbook in my Jeep that I use for GPS and looking at Google Earth. It wouldn't be difficult to mount either a stationary, or a 360* rotating, night vision security camera to the roof and feed it into the netbook. I could also buy another used netbook for pretty cheap, and mount the screen so it folds down onto the dash, and relocate the rest of the computer someplace where I'd have access to the keyboard. All in all this would cost less than $500 for a basic (read: crappy) night vision setup. The 360* camera would be primarily useful for watching perimeters, as well as driving, in little to no light scenarios. "Perimeter watching!?" Well, this is a forum about zombies. More practical, for me, would be the ability to park in a field and scan for coyotes. Now, obviously in pre-zombie days I wouldn't be cruising down the 409 using my DVE. Although the >$400 camera wont see hundereds of feet, even if it only sees a few meters in front somewhat clearly, it could be useful for slow open-prarie driving. I've driven with night vision on, and I've driven with thermal DVEs... both ways, it's not great driving, even with advanced technologies - but for $500 or less it would be an interesting project.
