And why two flashlights?
Here's some of my thoughts about the topic in general though:

One flashlight is attached to the pistol, but wondering if there may be a need for a flashlight but not drawing the pistol...

A valid question. I know a lot of people in the LE community have a handheld and pistol mounted light because its not always a good idea to go poking around with your light that has a gun attached to it. Sometimes, you just need the light.

Murph wrote:I read an article (blog maybe?) one time about the "spill light" from muzzle mounted weapon lights, and that most (Surefire, etc.) are powerful enough to light up a room even at low ready.
While "spill light" would prevent friendly muzzle sweeps. It still illuminates your weapon and makes you out as a target to both bad guys, and good guys not expecting to see an armed citizen. They didn't mention that in the article.
Edit:
Found the blog article:

My main thinking was for maybe figuring out how to attach some hydration system to it, and I had the cash figured might as well get it now.
figure the load out will increase once I wear it and see how it feels and see how much is comfortable

People also hide behind things while reloading, in the real world where targets shoot back, if they can
