Burlington Flats Appleseed Shoot, July 17-18

Postby thelight » Tue May 18, 2010 1:34 pm

So Laditek and I had a great time at the Appleseed shoot last year (see review here) and have been itching to go to another one. Low and behold! Another one! It would be great to have a few other ZS folks along. Camping could be arranged at my cabin, which is about an hour away.

Event link: http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=10088.0
Pre-registration is the idea, $70 for both days. $45 for one.
Shooters under 21, active military (including reserves and guard), and women shoot for FREE!

Range Rules - No loaded firearms on the range unless on the firing line and load command has been given. Eye and ear protection required. No shooting before 9am or after dusk or 8pm. This range has up to 300 yard possible, we will not be using that range at this time.
Special Features - Club house with restrooms and kitchen area. Range hosts will provide lunch for a nominal fee. Classroom/meeting area for 30 plus people. Range is location of the local Boy Scout troop meetings and has a large junior rifle program. Expect the majority of shooters to be younger and very familiar with target rifle shooting and this shoot should sell out quickly. Indoor 50 foot rimfire and pistol range. Beautiful fishing lake on range site. Very close to Cooperstown NY and the baseball hall of fame.

Cool, Edmeston is about 25 minutes from me.
There are a number of state forests even closer, and I'm very familiar with the area.
I'll have to see what I can arrange for the weekend.

Marlin 795 has been ordered. Count me in at this point. As I said in Mike's thread, I'd like to incorporate something (perhaps cooking) or somesuch into the trip as well.

Ok so other folks want to go! Awesome! Please go and register now. These things tend to fill up fast, so registering early is important.
I'll do so now as well.
Anyone else who wants to join up with us, just register at the Appleseed link above! The more the merrier!

As for logistics, I'm good with camping at the site or back at the cabin. The site will probably have the appleseed instructors hanging around and could have some fun stories associated with it. The one problem with the cabin is the hour commute. This means being up and out by about 6:30. Anyone have any preferences?

Gah! Nooo! They're Sold Out! :(
Crap. Ok, I'll look for another one. There was one in August and one in September if I recall... I'll get the dates and post more info here later.

We could always go to one of the red neck ranges on the state land around there, and put on our own "Peach Pit Shoot" :D
