What color is that magpul stuff?

You also forgot your trigger guard roll pin... :D

*ding ding ding* Yup. The roll pin is missing because I'm not putting the trigger guard on yet, and I don't want to mess with the roll pin until I do.

The color is foliage for all the magpul stuff, and thank you.

read up and use the vice grip method of installing the roll pin.

Caenus from what I have seen your best bet would be either an upper from BCM or Spikes. BCMs M4 carbine style uppers are out of stock right now, but the do have midlengths for the same price, $570. They also have some LMT M4 style uppers but those would run $647 with the BCG and handle. I have heard some good things about Spikes, and their M4 style upper plus handle and BCG is $600.

The primary difference between the offerings from BCM and Spikes are in the barrel steel and the fact that Spikes does not high pressure test the bolt or barrel and does not shot peen the bolt. The barrel steel in the Spikes guns is Cold Hammer Forged 4150 Chromoly Vanadium Alloy where the steel in the BCM offerings is are made of Mil-Spec 11595E steel. To be honest I am not sure what, if any, difference there is between the two kinds of steel. My research is still ongoing.

Yeah, despite the castle nut being backwards, and the trigger guard pin missing, it's a nice build.
The trigger guard roll pin Magpul includes with the trigger guard is too hard, you should use the one that was included with the LPK.

Holy lord, FFFFUUUUUUUUU pages spread like a social disease. :P

That said, nice job :D

Nice build too. I like the color of all the Magpul stuff. Is it as grey as it looks in your pictures?

No, no problem here. I just don't want to put the trigger guard on until I'm ready for final assembly. It's not getting it in, it's getting it back out since I don't have a punch and don't want to pick one up if I don't have to.

Nice build too. I like the color of all the Magpul stuff. Is it as grey as it looks in your pictures?

It looks pretty grey. I like the green/grey tinge to it. I don't see the "mint green" color as a lot of folks do. It's actually a great color in AZ. ACU colors are great in the desert here. Most of the plants (palo verde, etc) are that kinda mint green anyway.

Caenus I just noticed that you got your lower from an outfit in Tempe. How did you go about actually getting it? Can you just stop on by and pick one up?

.

dented pins, not roll pins.

for roll pins i adopted the vice grip method

for the front detend pin ( what i think the comic is in referance to) i first used a knife blade to keep it in place, but after... 4 builds? i can do it with just the front take down pin

Detent, gotcha. I did the same thing. Just held it down with the end of the pin then wiggled it in until I heard the little snap.

Still waiting on BCM M4 uppers to come back into stock. Might start looking at the mid-length. Anyone know when the Midlength MOE handguards will be out?

My Mid-length is going to be 100% magpul cept for the rear sight, though I may just get a new MBUS for that. I can't justify shelling out the cash for a troy rear even though I think they are a superior product.
Thanks Anianna!

it takes up less space on the rail then the MBUS if that helps

I got one more rail by switching to a troy

The MBUS is going to be sitting under an ACOG or behind a ML3 that is sitting at the front of the rail. No biggie. I am also going to wait for the new MBUS, but I think I said that already.
