I'm interested in doing a winter camping trip / mock bugout sometime in January. If we did it the first or second weekend after classes started we could post signs and maybe get some tech students involved. I was thinking perhaps caprock canyon.

What do ye all say?

January 9/10 or January 23/24 should work for me. The 16/17 would be harder to do. Lets decide on a date so that we can get a campground reserved.
In the spirit of Wintergeddon, I'm thinking tent camping and outdoors cooking?

9th/10th a no-go for me, but the 23rd-24th is great =)

I like usual will do my best to operate out of my pack even if we are only 20 feet from the cars.

Have we lost traction on this or are we still a go? I can call and get reservations if we are commited.

I was off the grid for the last week, but I am still go with it... I'll shoot Matt a call and find out his status tomorrow night. Call and find out if there even primitive camping spots still available and how much the deposit is to reserve one.

OK We currently have a date set for Jan 30th, However we are considering moving it to feb 6th. The current plan is to meet out at the canyon around 10AM on Saturday. If you live in lubbock or want to drive to lubbock, your quite welcome to carpool with me. We will set up camp and hike a few miles. Then return to camp and have dinner. The next day we can get up and if we feel up to it hike around a bit more and pack up and leave.

Please let me know if you can attend all or part of this event. Your quite welcome to come, hike, eat dinner and go if you don't feel your equipped to spend the night.

I am looking forward to this event and am glad that we finally have plans laid down. I am planning on joining this adventure and am planning a fire cooked dutch oven dish, there should be plenty for everybody.
