OCCUPATION:Working in a really cool (IMO) hands-on science discovey place, helping people to have fun and learn a little more at the same time (if they wish.)
For many years I was in computing (before it became ITC.) In the early days, the 'mini' computers I worked with were only 4 feet tall. Some had 128K of memory, and others a massive 256K. A couple of them were booted by paper tape, which sometomes broke. Fun days - no menus or GUIs in sight - much easier to persuade TOM to do just what you wamted! Much later on, I was one of five automatimg a factory using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs); then I came across X.25 and similar.
SKILLS:Probably more than I think I have.
I am a first aider at work (necessary requiirement.)
Computing (including modern day stuff!)
Helping people.
Cooking.
Listening.
WHAT DO I WANT TO GET OUT OF THE UK CHAPTER?Sharing information and ideas, possibly leading to becoming a bit more organized against our local zombies and a bit more self-sufficient in our local climates and conditions; friendship.
RANDOM STUFFHave 2 teenagers, and we are just coming to the first 'important' exams very soon. We all hate coursework....
Also have 2 dogs - labradors. One is 13 and now almost blind and deaf, but she's the first to know there's food being prepared in the kitchen! The other is 8 years old but is still mistaken for a puppy

We lost our first lab almost a year ago; she was 16.
Have played Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (AD&D) for almost 30 years; our youngsters are now playing it - I am in the middle of running a version 4 dungeon for two adults and 4 teenagers (a bought in one this time - cheating a bit, but makes it much easier to get used to the new rules.)
Used to do police and practical pistol when the requisite weapons were legal in UK. I wasn't very good at either, but my gun handling skills improved a lot! I did win a club competition - I shot no better than usual; everyone else had a bad day... I occasionally shoot underlever carbine and black powder revolvers now, and even more occasionally shotgun.
I read a lot, mostly murder mysteries and similar.
