Do we have any Radio Hams with HF gear in the ZSX section?

I am interested in learning. But need to learn how to drive first as that is my main priority.

I'm a member of a local club and am studying for my Foundation licence.

I also do some CB DXing, which is technically HF although 27MHz FM isn't the ideal frequency or mode for it!

Cool. Keep it up and you'll soon be licenced.

I've just applied to be a registered assessor. :)

Got my M6 licence at the start of the month :)

Sitting here now with my shiny new Baofeng UV-5 (one of these, at £23-and-some-pence I couldn't resist) scanning through the 2mtr FM simplex channels, the PMR446 frequencies (I've got a Talkabout TA200 here in case I want to transmit on those) and the local repeaters. Not much going on at the mo, the only traffic in the past 30 minutes has been the automatic CW ID from the repeater ...

Good job.

What repeater are you listening to?

GB3NE on 2m.

TBH I'm way out on the fringe of reception for it. I might be better off listening to GB3ET on 70cm but, having negotiated Baofeng's menus once, I'm not inclined to do it again until I've had a good night's sleep :?

Thanks for the thought :)

I got a couple of not-quite-100-mile CB DX contacts on Sunday afternoon while static mobile with a bog-standard Maycom EM27 and a 4' Stinger, so the propagation gods don't all hate me :D
