I'm on Echolink with NoAm at the moment and we're moving to the Echolink U-NODE reflector so that we can join up IRLP-enabled stations as well. Please join Echolink conference U-NODE or join via IRLP channel 9669 if able.

would it be ok if I put my club repeater link on U-NODE and just leave it on???

That is the conference link we were working off of a couple of weeks ago.

Net conference scheduled for 7:00 EST tonight.
Stay tuned for link updates
We are having dinner with friends at 5 and should be back in plenty of time, if things are running tight on time, just bear with me.

I'll try to make it this week. :)

I still don't know what a unode is. Is there a node or call sign I can search for?

Not my night it seems. The plug on my PC mic broke off. I can listen but that's it.

Looking to see if I can get the laptop mic working...

I was able to connect my link without a problem. I was able to connect the mobile over wifi no problem. Connection issues may point toward tcp udp port forwarding problems with the individual users... I noticed a lot of folks were just getting into echolink, and probably didn't setup their router to handle the new traffic.

Two good places to start are right on the echolink webpage.

Well, I took the first of nine classes for the HAM license last night. I'm thinking about getting the other books and just taking all three tests when the testing rolls around. How hard are they, really?

Once you know your stuff and do the online practice testing (that helps SO much!) you should be okay. Taking all 3 at once would be a real challenge!
There is Soooooooooooooooo much stuff though and the tests only cost $10 to take.
Mr. NoAm and I thought 1 by 1 was the way to go.
Definitely use http://www.qrz.com/index.html to study the practice tests.
Go to the resources section and you can test there.

Technician is freakin easy. General is where you actually start to learn something about radio . It wouldn't be too hard to take both of those together. Extra is a bit tougher but people do take all 3 in one sitting - it depends on how much time you want to put into it.

Good net! For a topic next week, maybe something about your Field Exportable Radio Shacks. Equipment you can grab and go with, then setup and use off the grid!
