Tacoma Amateur Radio Club Field Day Event

The Tacoma Amateur Radio club will be taking part in the ARRL Field Day Exercise. They normally fire up all the radio bands and try to make contacts all over the world. Some operate on other than grid power and others use all kinds of "make shift" type anntennas. Some will even allow you to get on the "air" even if you don't have a license, as long as you are under their observation. If you are interested in emergency communications or amateur radio in general this event maybe for you.

They will be setting up on Friday but the exercise starts on Saturday June 23, 11am, the exercise ends Sunday June 24, around 11am.

Some brave souls faced hard rain, biting cold winds and lots of sun spot static, but the messages got through and contacts made.

One of the parks here in Kitsap was participating with the KARC. Kind of got drowned on a bit, but I think they had some luck too from what I saw.
