The 2012 Tacoma Zombie "Festerval" and Preparedness Expo

Just thought we would give all of our friends at ZSC005 a heads-up on the September 29th Zombie event in Tacoma. Although the event doesn't officially announce until May 1st, we are taking pre-applications for vendors, sponsors, instructors, entertainers, and volunteers now.

The venue has been signed, the business account is in place, and the charity selected for where all of the after-expenses revenues will be donated. There are local planning meetings for anyone who would like to be involved with the event.

That would be great. We just need details so we can see if we have funds for the fees, and what the scheduling is like so we can start gathering volunteers. You're a good representative, Squeek, especially with your other Con experience.

The planning meeting shall be at the Fife Denny's, at 6PM, on Sunday May 6th. (That's this Sunday)

Showed up at the Zombie Festerval planning meeting. The event is still well within the planning stages; but, the event team appears to be very competent, and has the ability to pull off a quality program.

The event is scheduled for 29SEP12, at the Tacoma Dome Best Western. Tables are $75 with 2 entries fees included, there is the ability to set up Friday night. So the traveling members should schedule Fri/Sat nights to sleep in their cars...

They are looking forward to our participation and request that we arrive in full battle rattle, and field one of the Duce's if they are available. (They would like to park any ZS rigs next to the Blood Mobile :shock:

). A Zombie Walk is being penciled in, plus a kids zombie walk (I was thinking we could provide security for that group, get along little monster)...a zombie film festival... disaster prepper vendors, artisans, and the odd made up person will be present... And they are still coming up with stuff...

Could be in for a good time

We will be at Crypticon this weekend- you can pick up some brand new "2012 TACOMA ZOMBPOCALYPSE" posters and flyers at the "Poison Apple" table. We would like to get ZSC005 confirmed ASAP, so we can plug the chapter on the website. How does BOB demos/instructions/handouts sound? If you have 1000 information flyers, they can go into the swag bags, as well...

Crypticon "Day One" update:

The first printing of the full-color posters and flyers have arrived from the print shop- they look great! (come pick some up at Crypticon- or at the next ZSC005 chapter meeting)

More prizes have arrived from sponsors- (and there's some really good stuff in there)

And soon- an announcement regarding the Film festival portion of the Zombpocalypse- it is growing!

I recently learned that there is quite the film making underground in the Tacoma area. This should be really fun! I wonder if we should have them do zombie survival topics?

The Tacoma Grand Cinema http://www.grandcinema.com/ will be sponsoring the film festival portion of the event, and is already cross-promoting the 2012 Tacoma Zombpocalypse. They will in fact be providing the projection equipment, staff, and films for this- as well as run the competition for the local film contest. (categories are not yet confirmed, but they are looking at prizes for best 30 second, one minute, three minute, ten minute, and twenty minute films)

The Grand is expected to produce a "what to do/what not to do in a zombie outbreak" instructional made from clips of many zombie genre movies, which will play on a loop throughout the day.

Would really like to have ZSC005 commit to the BOB class...

Update: Bull's Eye Indoor Range has officially signed the event contract- they will be running a live zombie shoot for us the entire weekend of the event, and they will also be conducting specialized tactical classes during event hours.

The range is just a block from the hotel.
