I posted this in the other fitness thread by mistake but I had a good session today with my final sets being Bench 245x5, Squat 215x5, Row 160x5, and Deadlift 315x4. Just had a great hour long hike through some really rough terrain in about 95 degree heat with a 20lb pack on.

A little over 2 miles with a 25lb pack and then another mile after ditching it. Did my Kettlebell Meltdown workout and then some extra pushups and flutterkicks. After yesterdays heavy day I wanted to just do a lot of bodyweight stuff to work out some of the soreness.

This afternoon we had a pro boxer at the gym doing a seminar. Two hours of boxing drills. It was one hell of a workout.

After hurting my ankle on a run last week, due to my running shoes nearly falling apart, I figured it was time for new shoes.

I picked up some minimalist type running shoes and now my calfs are on fire after this morning's run! :gonk:

Looks like I'll need to take it easy to get used to these.

Another nice heavy day today. Deadlifted 335x2, Cleaned 185 with pretty damn good form, and Overhead Pressed 160x5. Finished it off with a 30 minute run at 7mph on the treadmill.

Take it easy with those at first. If you don't transition correctly you can fracture your heels by striking the ground like you would in normal gym shoes. Calves and hammies WILL burn at first lol. Wearing them for a few months did wonders for my flat feet. My Fila Skeletoes really built my foot muscles up. I'm considering upgrading to a pair of vibrams. Honestly I'm not having pains in my left ankle like I used to while running. (Old football injury.)

Also my distance/speed has increased in regular gym shoes as well.

Yea, I tried to take it easy yesterday. I alternated between running for 90sec and walking for 90sec for about 25min. I also took today off since I'm so sore. Tomorrow I'll probably be back at it with another easy run/walk.

I knew I'd be sore transitioning to minimalist shoes, based off everyting I've heard. I just hope after a couple weeks I'll be able to hit it hard again.

Even after a month I find it tough to do more than a mile in minimalist shoes. But 3 miles in gym shoes after getting my foot muscles built up was pretty easy. Granted I weigh about 255lbs. I have to work my way up to it I haven't started running until recently.

35 days to Z-Day.

5K run. 29 minutes, and had to take two walking breaks near the end. Lame. I have work to do before my next race in 8 weeks.
