Coupons = FREE Stuff!!!

Postby Tactikewl » Thu Sep 03, 2009 3:45 am

Hey ZS,

I recently did a major score, I had 12 manf. coupons for the propel bottles each $1 off. I went to QFC where they were on sale it was something like buy 10 get $5 off or whatnot for $0.79 each. I managed to get 12 propels, bagels, bananas, bread, and a few other things for $1.29. I also had coupons for the boxed mix so it wasn't that expensive. Next time your at the grocery store pay attention to coupons and browse Fatwallet I've gotten a box of stuff so far from Wal-Mart and samples and such all for free, helps me build my BoB.

Respectfully,
Tactikewl

That's a hell of a bargain. I use thegrocerygame.com but it's the same idea. Buy everything when it's on sale and you have coupons. Great way to stockpile food and save cash doing it. Good job.

Cool find.

My brother's ex-girlfriend and her family printed out a bunch of $1 coupons for a certain brand of canned goods at target, went in and the cans were on sale for $.79 each. They would buy them in as big of groups as they could, and would get the $.21 from each back on a gift card. I don't remember the exact numbers but she told me they built up a sizeable addition to their food storage, plus used all the money from the gift cards to buy christmas presents that year. She said at one point the one of the cashiers told them they were stealing and wouldn't let them do it, but they contacted corporate who said they were within legal rights of doing what they did.

That was a tuna coupon. I bought a good number of 'em, as did many of the folks here (the thread is somewhere in Food and Drink).

http://www.slickdeals.net is another great coupon/deal source. I love that place.

Nicely done, Tactikewl. Here are some sites I have found useful.

grocerysmarts
pinching your pennies
coupon clippin' mama
coupon mom Similar (less data granularity) to the grocery game, but free.
thrifty and chic mom
hot-deals Site is free, though membership gives one the ability to receive deals in advance of posting, set "deal alerts", and search past deals. Weighted toward technology deals.
hey it's free Doesn't get any better than that. Today's posting has an helpful list of store coupon policies.

I have come to accept that a "price book" of some sort is useful for identifying when prices are at rock bottom (by tracking historical data). If you don't have MS Office, you can use the free, compatible Open Office suite Some of them, such as the one linked, can be used on a PDA, so they're always at hand.

And in the "one man's trash" category... freecycle

That was a nice little haul, to be sure. And somewhere around here there's a whole thread full of freebies and coupons on stuff that might go good in a BoB. Ah - found it. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=18698

I don't ordinarily use coupons because, admittedly, I'm a cheapskate and I buy the store brand or I shop at the Po' Sto'. Not everything I buy is of the store brand, though, so occasionally I'll look for a good coupon I can print out online (links above), or a coupon code/promotional code if I'm ordering online.

Me too, but I was all excited about clipping coupons and there was none in either sunday paper. I usually buy the store brand, even at sams. The exception might be some limited food items, but even then I usually get the store brand unless I see a deal. A good percentage of the time the stuff is made in the same factory as the name brand stuff. I do like Marie Callender(SP) beef pot pies because they have good sized chunks of meat and no peas. And even at 2-3 dollars they are a deal because they are a complete hot meal. Also ever once in awhile I will buy the premium brand hot dogs like Nathans or Hebrew National for a change. Also a while back walmart had Kraft mac and cheese for less than their store brand. But usually it is sams choice or other generics in my kitchen cabinets.

D'oh! Talk about tipping your hand . . . . I wonder how many people would go to her house when if the stores were empty.
