What did you get for Christmas that is a PAW Prep Item?

Post by Arch » Fri Dec 26, 2008 9:26 am

Did anyone get anything for Christmas that is useful for the PAW?

My In-Laws are "non-survivalists", but came thru in a big way this year:

* Coleman Dual-Burner Camp Stove
* Eton FR300 Dynamo 7Band Weather Hand-Crank Radio with Alert and AM/FM Function
* Zebco Platnum 33 Reel
* $100
* Stanley Leather Work Gloves

The only ZPAW item on my list that I didn't receive was a Gerber Camp Ax!

ETA: My wife and I do not exchange gifts. We choose to spend the money on our family instead.

I got the Eaton radio, it's cool, also makes for a general use radio cause of the solar charging. A bit big for a BOB but good item for buging in.

Merry Christmas

Awesome!

Your radio has solar charging? The radio I recieved has a hand-crank, replaceable rechargeable battery pack with concurrent standard AA batteries but NO solar ability. Here's a pic:

My family gave me a new set of micro screwdrivers (tools are always useful) and a hand-crank powered LED light.
I gave myself a new tomahawk. 8)

Between my wife, mother in law, grandparents and dad they picked up:
3pr Wool socks
200rds .223
200rds .40
Leatherman Micra
Sierra Cup
Red Nalgene 32oz Everyday Bottle with a Firefly lid and Space Saver Cup
Snow Peak Titanium Spork
4 pack of Bic lighters
4 pack of Mini Bic lighters
package of handkerchiefs
Gerber Firecracker flashlight

I'd have to say that my family pretty much rocks. I hadn't actually put any of this kind of stuff on my xmas list. My wife paid attention to the things I talked about over the last few months and wrote down name brands to things as I mentioned them, and spent some time online looking for deals on the stuff.

A pair of Lowa Mountain GTX boots.

Soooooooo comfortable. Plus teh last pair lasted seven years of Army use, so they're very very durable.

I got one of those solar-crank-battery emergency radio/flashlights/weatherband, it's been handy so far to say the least. My mum knows just enough to realize my wishlists aren't jsut pipedreams.

And I bought msyelf a truck, but I don't think that really counts. lol.

And it's already set my my favorite radio station. Ironic eh? I got a dynamo powered radio as well, American Red Cross brand. Also got valve caps that look like the bottom of a .44 Mag bullet. Finally I got a knife sharpener. For some reason no one bought me any ammo, and I was very specific about what I wanted.

Lots of fire starting stuff, new tent, Costco gift card for a substantial amount, folding saw, new hand crank/solar powered flashlight, water purification drops, food for BoB. Pretty much everything I got was survival oriented in some way.

Lots of gift cards. The Wife and I have discussed it, and we plan on spending them on some Therma Rest sleeping pads, and a catalytic propane heater.

Yeah, my family pretty much always gets me prep related gifts, barring the occasional gag gift or food. I also tend to give them.

The partial list:
MAC Tools Multi Tool with LED Light
Ozark Trail Winter Boots
Food Dehydrator

my lovely girlfriend bought a small case of "pretty" canning jars from the dime store. I think im going to measure up all the dry ingredients for some kinda bread and fill them with that.

her dad got a columbia jacket and a columbia flash light that plugs into 12vdc in his car.

they're not real encouraging of my preparations. And everytime it gets brought up (never by me) they say its because im paranoid of a black president. God do I hate cliche's.
