That is one awsome man cave. I wish I had room for one in my house. Maybe when I get my next house, my wife will let me have the garage.

I liked Elrik's gun safe. Anyone else have them in their man caves?

they just finished building a brand new police HQ near my home. It got me thinking about how armory's are put together. So I know that while we like to put together our little man cave/guns rooms, is there an official, or professional way to build or organize an armory/gun room?

Nothing. Being as it's a personal room in your home, noone has put down a certain spec of guidelines. I'm sure, though, that if you thought about it long enough you could come up with a customized setup just for yourself.

I would toss out ideas such as racking, storage cabinets, recessed shelving for books, etc.

Question: are those jerry cans with the water plastic or metal? Do you have to take any precautions with the stored water to keep it clean?

I also have a "batcave" under a flight of stairs, but your staircase must be much larger than mine. Mine's also a closet that I mostly just use to keep all my firearm stuff out of the way, and it sort of developed into a bunker.

I've since added some more weapons, ammo and mags, as well as three month's food and water, a radio some lanterns and a few other supplies and given it a lick of paint. It's still small, but looks much more organized and spruced up. It's real virtue is that it's practically invisible from the outside.
You've inspired me! :D

I have a similar area that I could use in my utility room. Nice thing is it's next to our food storage. I'll post some before pics since this project is in the beginning stages.

Okay, not really what I wanted to do. I wanted the pic displayed in the forum without having to go to a link to see it.
But if you bother to hit the link, you will notice a few ideas I got from visiting the ZS forums on an almost daily basis.
The green 5 gal buckets contain canned goods, the tan 5 gal.water containers are filled. On top of the workbench is a red cross emergency radio with crank. On the shelving to the right, not easy to see are stocks of MRE's, ER bars, and additional survival gear in Go Kits. All great ideas I got from this forum. :)

Is that your Basic Training pic on the back wall?

I know there is a AFI (Air Force Instructional) on the physical requirements for an armory. It will be a bit excessive for personal use most likely but if people are interested I can try and see if there is a copy available on google (not taking one off the computers at work, like you guys but not that much  )

Let me see if I can find some pics of my Mancave. These are 'bout a year old, it is no where this clean atm  I've also added some stuff like a scanner and maps on the walls.

Floor has become somewhat cluttered with bug out bags, plate carrier bags, and other gear bags.
