Started packing the house up, getting ready to put it on the market and move.

If we can sell in time, we can likely get the property we've been dreaming of pretty much. It'll need some work, but it's 8.4 wooded acres and a foreclosure so the price is a damn good one.

Not all today, but within a few. Picked up another weeks worth of canned food and bottled water; dated, organized and cataloged . Sold 3 of my basses and a guitar for $3k, splitting that between a small CD I have (along with my tax return) and emergency cash to be locked away. Scored a truck load of untreated scrap wood to supplement what I used this winter. Finally found some more .30-.30 after months of looking and got another box of .270 while I was at it, and got a few nice cigars to enjoy when the weather breaks. :D

Picked up a S&W MP 15/22, a Benelli M4 shotgun, and enrolled in a shotgun course with MDTS.

Congrats! Best feeling in the world! (one one more hand if the SHTF :awesome: )

Got two more of the Best Glide ASE survival Tins...they're that nice! Have 1 I turned into a survival kit, the other two will be used "as needed" for various kits, etc.

Also picked this up at a consignment shop; these were the gold standard of camping saws...so much so, that Fiskars bought the blade design/company to use on theirs

Lost my MC Boonie Hat, so bought a replcement today...also grabbed two of the OD/Silver mylar blankets (casualty collection blankets, i.e. "tactical em blankets...LOL)

And, with the good whether we've been having here, decided to make a new batch of char-cloth

I bought a cast iron pan. I don't often think about dishes, but I was passing through a kitchen department. I saw cast iron and remembered reading something about that. If I never learn how to season and cook in it, I can still use it for home defense.

To "season it", heat it up in the oven (allowing the metal to expand), coat it in olive oil/bacon grease before it cools, there by locking the grease into the metal (as weird as that may sound...but, that's how it's done)...

Got my vehicle bag about 80% completed. Also worked on my FAK and a few other things for the BOB. I took a Red Cross CPR/AED/First-Aid certification course over the weekend, so I'm trying to use that to appropriately fill in my some gaps. :) Still so many things to do...

I got health insurance, (thanks, Obama) saw my doctor, refilled all my meds, and am getting an appointment for a specialist to look at alternative treatment methods for my stupid autoimmune disease.

I have been combing through the Archives of Zombie Squad when I have had the time. I am pretty impressed with amount of information on this forum.

I have also been doing some research on the new holster I am going to order at the end of the month, a new trauma kit I am going to order next month, and then working on the plan to get a new plate carrier by fall.

Started training the Missus in driving a manual trans today. She didn't do bad either, must have been all the tractors growing up on her family farm. Couple of stalls to be expected but overall she did rather well, fast learner.

Swapped all the batteries in the smoke detectors and renewed out fishing licenses for the year. We can buy our license online and save the pdf then I print multiple copies, one goes with the main fishing bag, one in the BOB, etc.

I read a chapter in my physics textbook, and replaced an end table with a bookcase to keep my books, shoes, gear, and miscellaneous crap.

Applied for a post-military retirement job today.

After hearing crickets for the last couple of months from a couple national companies, I finally started looking locally/regionally. My job search is really just starting but it felt good to take a serious positive step after getting a bit discouraged from an utter lack of feedback (which is feedback of course) from my initial foray into the real world (went to a Service Academy grad specific job fair) just before Christmas.

I haven't set an actual retirement date yet but will really be ratcheting up the job search over the next few weeks.

I jumped a friend's car, again, and scrapped some metal for gas burned in the jump. With the extra level of experience, I am certified as a Car Jumpmaster.

I started a new job this week, which has me in my Jeep all day, so it needed some maintenance:

-topped up the fluids (I don't know how to do an oil change yet though, and hubby decided it was too cold for him to do it, so I sent him to work early to get it done.)

-replaced a pointer light

-got a nail in a my tire a few weeks ago, and it's starting to warm up here, so I made hubby teach me how to pull it out and put a plug in, and then checked and added air to all the tires (including the spare)

-switched out the infant car seat for the toddler car seat

-repacked the GHB that lives in the rear cargo area

I also built a mini hike kit for short hikes, close to home with the kiddos.
