Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?
As of late, since my physical preps are in pretty good order, and me and ZSSC45 have been rather active, I've downloaded Survivorman season 1-4 and watched them all, now I'm on "Beyond Survival with Les Stroud". You pick up neat little primitive tips, and, it's just pure enjoyment to see these indigenous people enjoy the land so much, and appreciate what little they have.

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?
Applied for a job at Bass Pro Shops headquarters now that I am in Springfield, MO.
And, since the vast majority of my preps are in storage while living in the RV, I have focused on planning for different types of emergencies. With this part of the country, we're zeroed in on tornadoes and flooding.
So, I am focused on BOB's that will get us to the storm shelter, or allow us to live without the RV (ID papers, insurance, etc)
I am forcing myself to laser focus upon portability.

Is that Russian surplus gas masks? Kind of looks like them. If it is word of warning, they discountinued use due to asbestos in the filters. Granted its probably the least of your worries if you ever had to use them... more or less just food for thought.echo2 wrote:

Tested my first ever hand loaded rounds. They all went bang but I think the load needs a bit of tweaking.

Made my first pickles today from cucumbers I grew. Need to let them sit a month before trying them.

Scoped out the area where I hope to live, buy land, etc.
Marshfield outside of Springfield is a pretty good spot. Remote enough to be out of the way, close enough to a decent sized city for work, services, etc.

Picked up a Eureka Tetragon 4 man tent at Goodwill. Unused, like new. 8 bucks. Get lucky on finds once in a while.

What an awesome find! I'll have to swing by my GW today!jjs72 wrote:Picked up a Eureka Tetragon 4 man tent at Goodwill. Unused, like new. 8 bucks. Get lucky on finds once in a while.
I just picked up an evening job at a local grocery store. My 9-5 temp office jobs keep cutting me loose for lack of work. Hopefully, this little part time job will help us stay afloat better in this economy. And even though I cook a lot for my family, I have never formally had any jobs with food service/deli/bakery areas so this means new skills and an increase in my network!!!

I always see these cans, does anyone have a link to deciphering the markings? It's just a curiosity thing for me.Ziolo wrote:700 rouds of 7,62 x 39

Changed and replenished expiring medicines.
Put in new food stuff.
Streamlining BOB stuff to work on AA batteries:
Headlamp, flashlight, etc. Added Eneloops as well with the Goal Zero Nomad 7 & Guide 10 Plus battery pack. I can keep recharging the AA batteries and my cellphones and other electronics on the go.
Got a Fenix HL21 1x AA headlamp.

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?
Bought a 2nd propane exchange tank for the BBQ. Now when I run out, I can just swap it and go exchange the other one when I feel like it. Woot.
Also built an herb drying rack, hanging style, from some window screen, chain, and old picture frames.
