I applied a 50% off coupon to the purchase of my local grocery store's entire stock of organic canned black beans, which had been marked down from $1.39 a can to .75 cents a can. 2 cases for 18 dollars.

I bought a Jeep!!! :D
1996 Grand Cherokee Laredo, in GREAT shape. I'll be doing some tweaking later, but still, an awesome buy for $800. Now, if I can just manage to afford gasoline...

Just received LakeCity 5.56 NATO ammo. 420 rds. Added to my stockpile. Placed a second order before I could change my mind.

Reviewed my gear, watched the 4D Maglite's batteries die (old rechargeable ones) so switched to a 2D Magled recently picked up for cheap and loaded fresh Duracells.

Discovered a pack of AA's gone bad, safely disposed of it.

Concluded that a 35L pack just won't cut it and a fak is desperately needed.

Bought fifty feet of 1200 lb rope for the BOB. I realize it is not intended for climbing but it could be useful for other activities and if needed it'll be better than sheets tied together.

Had a pleasant discussion with the wife and kids on keeping an eye on the nieghborhood. Everyone took a turn with the spotting scope. Good times.

Got back from Europe, had to add a few things back to my BOB that I couldn’t fly with. I have purchased so many cheap knives that I have started caching them in other cities. This time I cached 2 knives, and a great lil map of the AO. It will be there when I arrive next month for a week. I do like to carry a bandana and a solid Master 175 Series Pad lock in my gear. Could make a great impact weapon when no weapons are allowed. Think benign and then think what could I use as a self-protection tool. Also checked status of batteries and rotated some food stock at the house.

Downsized my GHB and improved it. More water, more shelter, more capability. Add a small shovel because I <3 digging.

You won't keep that up for long. Get some fuel stabilizer. "STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer will keep fuel fresh for up to 12 months, guaranteed." From a local auto parts store. Looks like about $9 for a 10oz bottle to treat 25 gallons of gas for a year. Apparently you can just double the amount and store for 2 years.

I recently finally put my Country Living grain mill together and turned some brown rice into flour, as practice for getting wheat. Then made (unleavened) bread for the first time. Then tried my solar oven for the first time - turns out I have problems getting enough direct sun in my yard in New Hampshire in November. I'm thinking about practicing keeping a yeast culture alive without refrigeration.

My BOB (very out of date photos) and my IFAK (no photos). Working on it.

I put three gallons of gas that was 2.5 years old (regular amount of STA-BIL mixed in) in one of my V-twin ATVs and a chainsaw a couple months ago and both have been running like champs.

Eh, I left a 50 ccm scooter with a tank full of gas standin gin the corner for 2 years. It run fine on that very tank after I replaced the battery. I've been feeding my other scooter with 3 y/o gas for months. Gas doesn't go bad in two years.

Depends on where you are. Some states don't even allow ethanol yet. They have it here but you can get gas without it as well.

Cut, split and stacked 2 more loads of firewood. Already got enough to last this winter and most of the next. I could always barter with the extra if I needed to. And fired up the generator for 15 mins to knock the cobwebs out.

Ordered some pouches from SORD Australia to put on my Maxpedition Active Shooter Bag.... Only to find they may take a while because they are in the process of opening up SORD USA!!!!!!!! And the bastards stole the pattern for one of the pouches I want without duplicating it :(

Anyway SORD is one of my favourite manufacturers of load carrying gear, so you guys up in the US can look forward to some high quality nylon shit soon.
