Trump threatens to ‘end’ Iran, Saudis vow to defend themselves as tensions rachet up

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/trump ... latestnews

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Saudi Arabia does not want war but will not hesitate to defend itself against Iran, a top Saudi diplomat said Sunday after the kingdom’s energy sector was targeted this past week amid heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf.

President Donald Trump, meanwhile, warned Iran that it will face destruction if it seeks a fight, while Iranian officials said their country isn’t looking for war. Trump spoke after a rocket hit near the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.

Saudis Claim Intercept Of Iran-backed Houthi Missiles Headed For Mecca

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-05- ... aded-mecca

Saudi Arabia has claimed that its air defenses shot down two ballistic missiles over the city of Taif, just 65 kilometers east of Mecca, in the early hours of Monday morning. Saudi officials claim that another missile was intercepted over the Haddah in western Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi newspaper Okaz reported the missiles were intercepted as residents were breaking their day-long Ramadan fast. The paper claimed that the attempted attack was evidence that Yemen's Houthis had no regard for the safety and security of Muslim pilgrims visiting Mecca during the nights of Ramadan. The Houthis have unequivocally denied any involvement in the attacks.

There have been a lot of denials about who is attacking SA. No one is really supposed to be fighting right now because of Ramadan. In two weeks it will be a whole new ball game.

Houthi missile strike on Saudi Arabia's Abha airport wounds 26

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/06/ ... 51880.html

Yemen's Houthi rebels have fired a missile at Saudi Arabia's Abha airport, wounding 26 civilians in the building's arrivals hall, the Saudi-UAE-led coalition fighting the Houthis in Yemen said.

The coalition said in a statement on Wednesday that the wounded were of different nationalities, and included women and children who were taken to a nearby hospital.

It was not yet clear what type of missile was used in the attack. The coalition said the attack proved that the Houthis have acquired "advanced weapons from Iran".

Houthi-affiliated Masirah TV reported that the airport was struck with a cruise missile.

Less than 20 miles from the mountainous border those areas are near impossible to protect. If they have more missiles they will keep firing until empty.

Who launches one Katyusha rocket at anyone? I You launch hundreds at the same time not one even Hamas lauches dozens at a time. I say it was one kook who found one or it was a test fire/warning shot.
I did hear on the radio that the sabotaged ships actually struck limpet mines and were not attacked by missiles. This makes more since as you could probably see the smoke trail from a missile.

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-05- ... n-reported

Moments ago a blast was reported in central Baghdad close to the fortified 'Green Zone' in the Iraqi capital. Several journalistic sources are saying the US embassy there has come under rocket attack, with regional Arabic media confirming a blast was heard in the vicinity of the embassy.

A BBC correspondent in the region, Ali Hashem, reports that "one Katyusha rocket was launched towards the US embassy in the Green Zone in Baghdad, no reports of casualties".

It wasn't a kook. They are working out ranges, testing responses, seeing what works.

More and more the scent of "false flag operation" is starting to waft through this whole affair.

Normally I dismiss such out of hand and in this case I think it is what it is. I don't really need to point out that US oil companies will benefit greatly from any conflict in the Arabian/ Persian Gulf. Now that export restrictions have been eased and the US is the world's largest oil producer the sky is the limit on the amount of loot that can be pulled in. If oil jumps to say $200 a barrel Exxon could crack half a trillion dollars in revenue this year. TBH, I'd probably start a war for half a trillion dollars if I thought I could get away with.

Any such conflict will catapult the large energy providers (Russia, USA) in to even larger and more outsized positions of power than they already hold. If Iran is behind all of this as they likely are I don't think they realize how badly they bungling it. This would be very much in character for Iran.

Ramadan is over though and the summer is in full swing which is the normal fighting time for the Middle East. The IRGC keeps issuing threats and their mouthpiece agencies are covering the attacks as through the Prophet himself thinks they are a good idea so it all fits.

Yemen's Houthis target two Saudi airports with multiple drone attacks

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-yeme ... SKCN1TG0M3

CAIRO (Reuters) - Yemen’s Houthi movement launched fresh drone attacks targeting Jizan and Abha airports, in southern Saudi Arabia, the group’s Al-Masirah TV said on Saturday, adding the installations were out of service.

Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya TV said Saudi forces had intercepted a ballistic missile targeting the southwestern city of Abha.

The Iran-aligned group said multiple drone strike targeted control rooms at Jizan airport and fuel station at Abha airport.

“The two airports are now out of service. We promise the Saudi regime with more painful days as long as the aggression and siege continue on our country,” the group’s armed forces spokesman said in a tweet published by Al-Masirah TV’s account.

Time for Trump to nut up or shut up. The Iranians have called his bluff. Bombastic tweets won't impress the Islamic Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

Might be a good idea to top off our gas tanks this weekend.

This thread is very difficult to discuss without getting political. That said this crosses the politics line.

This on the other hand is acceptable and conveys the same message.
