No uptick in my area. Seems to be that people just aren't worried about anything in my area, I think we've gotten numb to the idea of danger due to the constant news cycle of chaos.
But I also live in a different county now, so maybe everyone is just decently prepared already and sees no need to rush out and grab a bunch of stuff. I hope that's the case.

Huntsville is running about the same. With an annual average of around 54"... still 3.5 months to go....

But the trees and blueberry bushes... I've never seen such a thing in a single season.
This part of the coast, between Mobile & Pensacola, averages around 67" a year. Mobile is at 50" and Pensacola is already at 62".

Good thing is, the regularly scheduled afternoon thunderstorms haven't been too bad. Usually this time of year the lightning is so "hot" that it doesn't just blow the fused cut-outs, blow the arrestors on the transformers, or cause the automatic reclosers to operate, but it can actually splinter the pole tops and blow the lids off the reclosers and transformers. But so far the T-storms have been fairly tame.
I said the other day that it seems to be raining almost every day for the last few weeks, looks like I was right:

This is not panic buying but due to the dysfunctional pumping system these folks are lining up for free sand bags. The sand and bags are free but it is like some many municipal things here, DIY on the filling and placement of the sand bags.

Sandbags can be picked up today until they run out at the intersection of Perdido and S. Lopez streets. Additional locations to pick up sandbags will be announced later.

:oh: uh, that MAY have been back to school shoppers.

Maybe they were planning to take in kids with a DIY bunker that they've dubbed the "Ark". :awesome:

Well, maybe they were going back to school to get their GED so they could get a better job and finally be able to afford a second refrigerator on the front porch. You didn't overhear any of them asking where the pen sharpners or computer screen white out was ,did you?

The second fridge is in the garage, not on the front porch.
