Favorite Camping/Hiking Areas in Ontario

whats yours? i'd pick Rondeau Park for camping because im very familar with the area and it has a lot of nice trails to bike on.
I've been meaning to go back to New Glasgow which has one of the best/remote trails i've ever hiked.

So any of you fellow ontarians have a favorite spot to hike or camp?

I luv the park up in tobermory it is beautiful and the water is so clear

also it is part of the bruce trail so in the same area you can go hiking and there are caves in the peninsula so it is not far if you want to go spelunking

I'd have to say the granddaddy of all provincial parks: Algonquin Park. I've covered a hell of a lot of ground and water in that park in all four seasons. It's a great park for beginners or for experienced wilderness hikers/campers.

When I was in grade 7 my elementary school went for a weekend camping trip in Algonquin. It's the only experience I have there, but it was quite nice. I didn't know then half of what I know now, and being a school group I couldn't go off or do anything without a group, but I enjoyed it.

I've spent some time around Dorset, there isn't much for trails, but if you are able to find your way around you can have a good time, and lots of crown land to go through.

Allgonquin is over 3,000 square km in size. There are probably hundreds, if not thousands of old camps and things around it. 90% cannot even be reached by road. You have to canoe in. There are plenty of old ranger cabins in the interor, some of which have been refurbished and you can book one with the MNR and stay in it just like you would a camp site. They all require long hikes or canoe trips to reach.

I love Niagara Glen for hiking. It's not that big, but it makes for a very pleasant little trip and i've seen very little in my life more beautiful.

I have done a bit of winter camping in the past, and I am finding the recent talk of doing a mock bugout during winter interesting.

I guess I could do a dry run in back yard for now to test out the gear I have been able to locate(so far) after the more here. Be nice to take advantage of all our fresh white-stuff while it lasts.

Any suggestions for a good locations for a proper winter mock bug out? Locally or otherwise?

Be nice to find a common location for camping as well.

Authority land is most likely land owned by the local conservation authority. Crown land is publicly owned land that is predominantly in the northern portion of the province.

Yeah there is very little south in the southern portion of Ontario (South of the French-Mattawa River) but 95% of the northern part of Ontario is crown land. Indeed, 87% of Ontario's land mass -an area equal to four times the size of the United Kingdom is crown land.

I've hiked the Bruce several times and love watching the changing landscape and the unique little spots along the way. I would like to take my boys and walk from end to end with them when they get older.

My favourite place has to be Algonquin though. My boys are starting to fall in love with it too. Trying to convince my wife to let me get a massive Grumman canoe this spring (maybe even two), which should make the trips up there even more cost effective.

My family has a cottage in Dwight, right on 60. I have spent a lot of time in Algonquin, but not since high school. After I didn't have summers off, my time up there was spent at the cottage. It is a great place to camp, but takes a large time commitment to go, and avoid the hoards, imo.

I like Silver Lake near Perth for camping, and I'm partial to the Grand River Trail for hiking, specifically the Cambridge to Paris section.
