It's not illegal to carry at a gunshow. Most gunshows have a policy of "you can't carry at our shows" but it's their policy, nit law. The NRA event is as much political as it is about being a gunshow, to tell a bunch of NRA members that they can't carry their guns, to an event that they pay for through their contributions, in a state that allows unlicensed open carry, and is a "shall issue" state for concealed carry, would really ruffle a lot of feathers, and probably drive some contributions to other groups.
I went Friday with DanBGTC, and I'll likely be going on Sunday with a friend.
