My assumption is that they would pull the person aside into a private room for additional pat downs/questioning. By that time it would be too late, the dignity police have came and went. And too bad for them if they feel harassed on that basis, as I'm not sure any litigation would go very far right now, given as there's been a recent ruling saying this type of unwarranted search is legal and justified.

I did see that on the news the other night. Great. One more thing I get frustrated/scared I won't pass up to their snuff. I've been pulled off to the side before for other nonsense and I just wonder where the line is. I truly don't see how this is completely legal and now comes random interrogation. Of course, obviously, if you refuse to answer questions (which I would presume you have the right to do, as you have the "right" not to board your flight if you don't agree to be searched), or if you show suspicious behavior when answering them, then you get a spanking and sent to the principal's office. I know I am probably going to be shite at answering questions mostly just because I'm scared I won't give the right response. What an idiot system. They gotta know there are a lot of people that are just terrified of being wrongfully fingered. Ow....
Then you have all those who are excited about being rightfully fingered.....
